Welp. He is a good player, but he isn’t the future, and Ramsey is. So, that’s that.

I am a bit surprised he would go to miami, but whatever. I agree, nittany. I think it is more of a salary dump than anything. They could not cut him because his salary was guaranteed as a vet. Did they actually pay Miami a pick to take him? lol

It also might mean they like Troy Hill, i spose.

Talib did a good job last year when he was on the field.

Trading for an older player on IR seems a bit weird to me, btw.

Rams send Aqib Talib and a pick to Dolphins

Rams send Aqib Talib and a pick to Dolphins
Posted by Michael David Smith on October 29, 2019, 1:53 PM EDT

The Dolphins are buyers at the trade deadline. Sort of.

The Rams sent Aqib Talib and a fifth-round pick to the Dolphins for a future pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Without knowing what the future pick the Dolphins are sending back is, we can’t really assess that trade, but it seems likely that the future pick is actually worse than that fifth-rounder, and this is actually the Rams unloading the remainder of Talib’s salary this season. Talib is a vested veteran, which means his full salary is guaranteed for the rest of the season, and the Rams would have been on the hook for the rest of his salary if they had released him.

Talib becomes a free agent after the season.

Whether Talib actually plays for the Dolphins remains to be seen. He’s currently on injured reserve, and the Dolphins may just leave him there for the rest of the year and pocket that pick from the Rams.

Expect more deals in future years like the Dolphins’ acquisition of cornerback Aqib Talib. The Rams sent Talib and a 2020 fifth-round pick to Miami in exchange for a 2022 seventh-round pick, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. This was essentially a salary dump. Talib is on injured reserve with a rib injury and due $4.2 million the rest of the season. While it’s possible there are more details forthcoming, the Dolphins presumably agreed to pay that money to get an extra pick in the 2020 draft. That’s awfully expensive considering that fifth-round picks rarely become starters, but it’s not so different than the Brock Osweiler-to-Cleveland move from a few years ago. It’s possible the Dolphins could also pick up a 2021 compensatory pick if Talib, an impending free agent, signs elsewhere next year.

yeah rams essentially pay the dolphins a draft pick to take on around 4 million dollars of salary. or the dolphins just payed 4 million for a fifth round draft pick… sure. why not?

i liked talib. it sucks he had to go out this way.

i also think this means that they like what they have in hill and the other young defensive backs so yay!
