The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes. https://t.co/nl3JFLx9xg

Just my take: It wasn’t snuffed out by Russiagate. At all. It was snuffed out by internal fighting, accusations of antisemitism between the leaders, major disagreements about focus and goals.
Playing the Russiagate card is tiresome, IMO, and there’s nothing “reactionary” about investigating a far-right president’s collusion with the far-right Putin — by definition. It’s actually “reactionary” to obsessively defend them.
In short, I think Mr. St. Clair is off his rocker.

May 4, 2022 at 9:25 pm #138758MackeyserModeratorWelp, considering I live in FL, the den of evil, aka the home of Ron DeSantis, very likely our next President…
fuck…
Yeah, we’re moving likely to MN in the next two years.
My youngest is Non-Binary Trans and I’m sure if we don’t have it we will have trigger laws in effect not only to make abortion illegal in all cases here in FL, but also they’ll set up to challenge Obergfell and Lawrence, thus making gay marriage illegal and making gay sex illegal in this fucked up state.
CO is the most forward, but so much CA money has gone to the state that it’s too expensive… and we like MN and it’s super LGBT friendly
Prolly gonna take a few years to make it happen, but yeah… it’s on now…

Keep an eye of making Interracial Marriage illegal. Mike Braun(R-Indiana), let it out, saying that should be up to the states.

May 7, 2022 at 5:41 pm #138803MackeyserModeratorYeah, Jack, I saw that…
When I said that with the way Alito’s opinion was written as an all out attack on “right to privacy”, I meant it…
Roe v Wade and Casey v Planned Parenthood are already completely done
Obergfell v Hodges (gay marriage), Lawrence v Texas (anti-sodomy laws) and Griswold v Connecticut (contraception) are ALREADY being either outright gone after or the preparations are in place.
Several state AGs have stated that they will essentially refuse to follow Obergfell or Lawrence in an outright challenge and since even without hearing arguments or getting evidence or testimony, Alito’s opinion with 5 Justices states that Obergfell and Lawrence were wrongly decided and we can expect Griswold to fall as well.
Moreover, women in Missouri (and apparently Louisianna) have already been called by some Drs to have their IUDs removed as they expect them to become illegal in the state the moment the Roe decision is announced, signaling that these states and likely others plan to make all contraception illegal the moment the Roe decision is announced. This will include the MANDATORY removal of IUDs and other implants as well as pill surrender/confiscation and removal of all contraception from condoms to Plan B and RU486 pills
So yeah… Loving v Virginia is likely to be challenged as well as viewing porn (a number of precedents apply here, but they’ll go after any and all that rely on “right to privacy”
This fucking place is now on a RAMjet to a Christofascist theocracy and I’m just not here for it.
My wife for the first time in our lives, been together 35 years now, is asking “so… what country do we move to?”
This is someone who can’t stand to be away from her grown children or baby/7yo grandchildren for a few days without getting the grandma jitters…
