One of my favorite artists of all time. Typical of how private he had become to keep this from everyone until the very end. He did leave one parting gift; the album “Blackstar” just released on Friday. Sad in many ways, but a life well lived.

Listened to the 1995 “Outside” CD on my way to MA yesterday. One line in particularfrom “Heart’s Filthy Lesson” gave me chills:

“I’m already five years older I’m already in my grave”

Actually, the whole damn CD gave me chills…

I think our artists are under-appreciated and our athletes over-appreciated here in the US of A.

A friend of mine worked with him.

In 1972 David Bowie offered Iggy Pop and James Williamson a chance to record in London

The friend is James. (I never met the other guy, whoever he is. ) I met James a few decades ago when I lived in Claremont CA. He used to talk about “David” in awe.

Yes artists are under-appreciated. I agree with you.

i played in many classic rock cover bands throughout the years and I always insisted on doing a few Bowie tunes.

Bowie has a great song catalog. A big part of his sound and composition was Mick Ronson’s choppy riffs. Very underrated musician… Bowie’s rhythm section was also great.

Very dynamic sound for a simple 4 piece line up.

Sadly both Ronson and Bowie are gone.

If you haven’t yet, check out DB’s last two vids, especially “Blackstar”

Amazing, given the fact he knew he was dying.

From all indications, he was a very down to earth, kind person in his private life.

Sorry to say “Blackstar” is getting a lot of hate from the “Christians” on the web. Saw a post where somebody said, “I prayed for him, but I’m sure he is suffering in Hell.” Like they know… To me, it would be Hell to be surrounded by people like the one who wrote that in the afterlife. Their Heaven, my Hell.

I wish Bowie had given in and done a role on the Dr Who reboot; they tried to get him very hard, but he declined. Would have been awesome as The Master.
