    Tough loss.

    My 2 cents fwiw.

I think Cooks being out means the opposing defense don’t have to worry about a deep threat and they can clamp down on other things.

Great Pitt defense. Analysts were saying they were playing lights out the last 3 games.

Rams OL struggles with injuries and youngsters and lack of continuity. That won’t work against top defensive fronts. Goff never looks good in those circumstances.

    Pitt defense is really good.

    Rams Oline is not.

Goff made some inaccurate throws particularly early.

    Rams D is pretty decent.

    Doubt we make the playoffs.

Need to fix the Oline this offseason.

A nice effort by the defense spoiled by an inept offense.

O-line is banged up and depleted, but that doesn’t explain everything that’s wrong with the offense.

Goff is constantly being pressured, but that doesn’t explain everything that’s wrong with Goff.

It’s the ninth game and the start of the playoff push…what are they saving Gurley for now? He should be getting 25 touches a game.

I don’t think they’re saving him. He has an arthritic knee. He’s being managed. That’s how it looks to me. If that’s true the time of year has nothing to do with it.

I wish McVay would have run the ball once after the Rams moved the ball quickly to the Pittsburgh 30 with 1:30 and 3 timeouts left.

    A 3rd and 5 or 4th & 5 is a lot easier to pick up than 4th and 10.

It’s amazing they had a chance to win after playing so bad. Goff looks like he struggles when he has time off.

Have you guys already suggested that he is a qb that needs practice and reps? I feel like that is something that has been thrown out there but I forget.

Our Offense still has not been right all season. Is it possible the teams figured out McVay? Since starting out 3-0. We have gone 2-4. I don’t have the confidence that this team is going to get any better this season.

Backup Qb rb wrs te should have been a shutout Gurley dropped what 3 4 passes gave away 3quarters just a miserable uninspired game out of this team. Sure there are all kinds of little things that didn’t go right the refs were horrible but still I’m disgusted with this bunch right now.I just can’t accept coming off a bye and losing a winnable game who are these guys?

I don’t think that anything is wrong with McVay. I think the biggest problem that the Rams need to figure out how to fix is the running game. The already mentioned issues on the offensive line are clearly a problem. I don’t know if the answer at RB is currently on the roster either. I believe once they fix the running game the rest of the offense will fall into place. I don’t see that happening this year though. It’s going to have to be addressed in the offseason. Right now I think we are looking at a .500 team maybe a little worse.

Sad thing is CJ Anderson is a free agent. He was a big part of our running game last year.

Do you think that CJ could run as well behind this year’s line?

The backs they have are better than CJ.

Plus he didn’t know the pass blocking routines and wasn’t much of a receiver, so whenever he was in there, defenses knew the Rams were going to run.

This is the issue and it has nothing to do with who starts at RB etc. Since last year, top DLs and front 7s have made the Rams look the way they did today. Pitt is one of those. So is SF. Last year, it was Detroit, Chicago, Phil, and in a different way, the Patz.

Last year it was because the OL was eroding, with Sullivan being a shell of himself.

This year it’s because it’s young and has not played together.

This stuff is not new–put the Rams up against a top DL/front 7 and it happens–and will keep happening until the OL finally solidifies.

That means we might as well start looking at next years draft & see who is available in the 2nd round. It is not going to get any better for us then. I wonder what Havenstein will net us? Wonder how much dead money it would cost us as well? We need some of it to pay Dante Fowler. We need to find a way to keep Fowler here for the next few years as well, along with Jalen Ramsey.

You admitted we struggle with tough Defenses. Now we are going against Chicago who put a whooping on us lat year, then Baltimore. Let’s not forget, we still have Seattle & San Fran on our schedule. These are strong defenses. I feel like in the remaining 7 games, at worst, we need to finish 6-1 to have a shot at getting in as a wild card. It is due to how the NFC teams are playing. I don’t see that happening.

The offense scored 3 whole points. This looks like a 5-11 team to me.

Well, fix the o-line and the biggest problems with the offense go away.

Goff has some problems of his own (also fixable), but the best thing you could do for him is fix the o-line.

That can be done in a single offseason.

Whit said on Cowherd that he’d like to keep playing beyond this season.

Fix the o-line and this team is a contender again.

I listened to a bit of the game on Game Pass radio, saw a few highlights on NFL network, but decided against watching the replay. Too depressing.

From what I heard and read, including from posters here, it sounds like most of the loss comes down to the O-line. Injuries, plus the line wasn’t good even prior to them.

    Told you so’s
generally aren’t good form . . . but I’m gonna show bad form today. Cuz, yeah, I thought they neglected the O-line before the season started. They put far too much trust in their red-shirts and late round picks. And I was never a fan of Havenstein from Day One.

In a league with more and more elite athletes on defense, you can’t survive with poor athletes on the O-line. You need to match them. And, with rare exceptions, you aren’t going to find seriously athletic linemen even in the third round these days, much less later than that.

Again, exceptions occur. But you need to go for them when they’re available earlier. And now, the Rams, having traded away so many first rounders, won’t be able to upgrade their line for several years, and they don’t have the cap space to grab elite linemen via FA. It’s gonna take a miracle/great scouting to uncover the proverbial diamonds in the rough in both venues.

If they can’t, the Rams O will continue to decline and, as others have mentioned, the Rams’ FO will have wasted the prime years of a generational talent on D.

    This. Isn’t. Good.

    I don’t agree.

I think this is a case of out of an out of sync OL with new faces being rough (though winning 5 games) and then that gets taken as a talent issue.

They drafted 5 linemen in 2 years, 4 look good, and in fact one (Edwards) may be the best Rams low round pick in years and years. I think the future will vindicate the picks of Noteboom, Evans, and Edwards above all, and probably Allen too.

They then traded for one (a high 2nd rounder) and picked up another one as a cut (a viable move in line building).

That is not neglecting the OL.

Meanwhile yesterday they ended up with 4 spots on the OL manned by guys either out of position or fresh off the bench. No line looks good under those conditions.

I am in pretty strong disagreement with all the “told you so” OL posts.

That’s my 2 cents on this. Just posting it as my vote in the informal poll. We could argue about it all day but I don’t intend to. I just see it as 2 different votes.

    Well, ZN,

I vote that your vote is the wrong vote. That’s my . . . um, vote.

    ;>)

But, yeah, there’s plenty of room for different takes on the O-line and what ails the Rams. We should be able to agree, however, that they are ailing, whatever the rationales.

It’s all the more frustrating, when we think of the promise we all likely felt before the season. Despite my reservations about the O-line, and they were strong reservations, I still had no doubt the Rams would make the playoffs and do well in them.

Now, my cold-eyed look at the team says they’re not going to make the playoffs at all, while my fan-side says it’s still possible.

Regardless, they’re going to have to make some major changes in the off-season. IMO, it starts with the O-line. And if I had my druthers, they’d bring in a monstrous-sized, lane-clogging DT too.

I too listened to the game, but I just rewatched it…

    Both defenses played great….

Rams need to relearn how to win these ugly games… they’d be reining Super Bowl champs right now.

i almost agree. except i’m waiting to see what happens with whit.

and at this point noteboom is still very much a question mark. and edwards at left tackle? perhaps. it’s a long shot. but then that leaves a hole at guard. possibly.

i only saw the second half. but some of this is on goff as well. he’s gotta adjust a little bit. and there was some questionable decision making.

also. they shoulda ran gurley more.

Be oh line was not a strength going into this year and then they lost some guys. If no one had gotten injured, they would probably be OK right now.

They should be able to fix it next year as they seem to have some good young talent, but I am not holding my breath for this year.

Was out of town. Just saw the highlights.

Talked to a longtime steeler fan and he said thats the best the steeler D has looked in years. Ah well.

Nothing new in this game. Same story. Gurley + Oline.

Bear game should be interesting. Should be about 4 to 3. Not sure who will have the 4.
