Good win
But I never want to hear the words “personal foul” called against the Rams ever again
November 11, 2018 at 7:42 pm #93704nittany ramModeratorI never bought into the “defense wins championships” mantra, but it can lose them.
This defense is not good.
November 11, 2018 at 7:51 pm #93707nittany ramModeratorThis is the worst defense the Rams have had since Spagnulo was trying to piece one together with guys off the street due to all the injuries.

at this point i do not see this team beating the saints.

ABQRam: Our defense thinks 3 and out is a dating app…
November 11, 2018 at 8:34 pm #93713AgamemnonParticipantNovember 11, 2018 at 8:36 pm #93714canadaramParticipantDitto on all the horrible defense comments. I thought Ebukam looked especially bad at times, but there is plenty of blame to go around I’m sure. I don’t know how much of a difference Talib will make, but it will be great to get some help on defense. Good to see more and more from the TEs. So bummed about Kupp. I hope he’s back earlier rather than later next season. Go Reynolds.
November 11, 2018 at 8:43 pm #93718HramParticipantExciting game.
Waaaay too many personal fouls.
It seems the rams have become slow starters the last several games.
Wilson is a gamer. His running was, unfortunately, impressive.
The new DE was a good pickup. Need to keep the emotions in check.
November 11, 2018 at 8:47 pm #93719canadaramParticipantCan’t help but appreciate being 9-1 before the halfway point in November. I’ll never not appreciate a winning record. With only 6 games left the Rams only need one win for the division title. That amazes me. After sitting in the middle of a desert from 2005 to last year I’m still in awe of the Rams current succes.
November 11, 2018 at 8:50 pm #93720InvaderRamModeratorIt does not look good for Kupp. We might have TEs.
gerald everett has to step up. higbee too.
November 11, 2018 at 8:59 pm #93721joemadParticipantI attended the game. I’m currently outside the Coliseum enjoying a vitory milkshake at Cold Stone…
Rams gave up a ton of rushing yards but they came up with some big 3rd down sacks today
I was worried that the Rams mis managed the game clock after recovering the first OSK midway in the fourth qtr
This was a great game to see from the stands….high fives and fist bumps for everyone!
The Rams are 9-1

Good for you JM.

November 12, 2018 at 7:51 am #93759wvParticipantWell, the offense just needs to score about 35 points a game in the playoffs.
How hard could that be?
w
vNovember 12, 2018 at 10:33 am #93765ZooeyModeratorI echo JoeMad on clock management. I didn’t expect them to lose when they gave the ball to the Seahawks with 1:35 left, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if they had. They held on, but against a real football team….
Lost Kupp, looks like. I think that weakens the offense considerably.
I don’t understand the defense. Losing Talib should hurt, but it’s like the whole secondary looks lost without him, and I don’t understand that.
This does not look like a Super Bowl team right now. How about some turnovers?
November 12, 2018 at 11:32 am #93778ZooeyModeratorI have watched the replay several times, and I just don’t see any receiver in the area. Wilson was clearly throwing that ball away to avoid a sack, and he was in the pocket, and there was nobody there. That should have been Int Grounding and a 10-sec runoff. I thought the officiating was pretty shoddy a few times, but I was watching a poor resolution feed with the sound off and some buffering while multi-tasking, so my viewing effort was pretty shoddy, too. But that was my impression, and I’m not usually a ref-basher.
November 12, 2018 at 12:13 pm #93780Eternal RamnationParticipantGood win , the D is a mess. I wonder if Suh and Donald competing for sacks is resulting in their poor performance against the run? Remember when being an Lb behind this DL was supposed to be easy. Ebukam had a horrible game. He has flashed from time to time but is not the answer out there imo.I thought the dbs played well for the most part Wilson’s throws were pinpoint accurate and defeated what I thought was good coverage quite a few times
November 12, 2018 at 12:41 pm #93786ZooeyModeratorTeam Defense Total (YPG): Rams 13th. Chiefs 29th.
PPG: Rams 23.1 ppg, Chiefs 24 ppg.November 12, 2018 at 12:54 pm #93790nittany ramModeratorGood win , the D is a mess. I wonder if Suh and Donald competing for sacks is resulting in their poor performance against the run?
I think that’s part of it. Maybe it’s by design, but I think Suh and Donald are abandoning their gaps to get to the passer, and offenses are taking advantage of that with the run.
November 12, 2018 at 8:32 pm #93815wvParticipantI watched the replay.
Seems to me Whitworth is either injured or his lost a bit off his fastball. He did not look like an allpro Sunday.
Losing Kupp is significant. This offense is not the same without him. They wont miss him against ordinary teams, but they needed him against the Chiefs or Saints.
Sure looked like Seattle was getting into the heads of the Rams Defense, Sunday. Seattle was playin the part of Cortland Finnagen. Or somethin. Good lesson for the Rams. Get all their idiot penalties out of their system now.
The Suh hit was dirty in this new NFL. In the old days that happened every other play. Its strange how my brain is now adjusting to the new rules. Suh is just Deacon Jones. Ya know. Imagine if Deacon was playing today. He’d be called the dirtiest player in the NFL.
The Rams just keep playin the same script. Smooth, efficient Offense puts pressure on the other team, and the defense gets shredded but makes enough big plays to win. Can they win a ring with that kind of team? Well, given the fact that the Saints, Chiefs, Vikings, Chargers, Patriots all have problems too…Sure. They could do it. With health. And luck. There’s really no clear favorite, though is there.
I thought Romo did a good job in the booth, btw. He knows things.
I never take McVay’s offense for granted. Its such a well-executed, well-orchestrated scheme. (Especially when Kupp is healthy). I mean the high level of execution AND the beauty of the scheme.
The execution delights me. They dont drop balls. They dont fumble. They dont throw INTs. They go where they are supposed to go. I swear. I remember back when Montana and Walsh were carving up ram defenses. And i would just shake my head at the damn perfect execution of Montana, Rice, Craig, Rathman, etc. This offense reminds me more of the old 49er offense than the GSOT.
My game ball goes to Marcus Peters.

i think this offense is less vulnerable than the gsot.
maybe i’m wrong. but it’s definitely more balanced. maybe partially because of the new rules. but goff is less prone to getting bulgerized in an offense as balanced as this rams offense.
and i still don’t think we’ve seen the best. gurley, woods, and cooks have a lot of tread left on the tires. hopefully, kupp comes back next year healthy. but goff is just now starting to scratch the surface of how good he can become. i honestly don’t think he’s there yet. like i said. there’s only one other qb i’d take over goff right now. that’s mahomes. that guy is on another level. he reminds me of aaron rodgers. he’s that good. but it won’t be any knock on goff if he can have a career similar to that of brees.
quarterbacks typically don’t peak until around their age 29 season. goff is in his age 24 season. he’s got four more seasons after this one before he hits his age 29 season. what will he look like then? or even what will he look like in 2021 – his age 27 season? gurley will be 27 and hopefully in the prime of his career. cooks will be in his age 28 season and still under contract. robert woods will be 29 and should still be under contract. kupp’s contract ends in 2020. so i don’t know what happens there.
the gsot in 2000 when they were arguably at their greatest before warner went down with an injury. faulk was 27. isaac was 28. torry was 24. kurt was 29.
one problem i see though is replacing whitworth. he won’t be around by then. so how do they replace him? is noteboom the answer? i hope so. he can’t ask for a better situation learning under whitworth and being coached by kromer. he’ll be in the last year of his rookie contract in 2021.
hopefully, the rams can stay relatively healthy. and if noteboom can provide continuity at left tackle, the next 3-4 years could be fun.
of course. the rams also have to re-sign goff for all this to work. hehe.

November 13, 2018 at 1:18 am #93831znModeratorGood discussion guys.
WV you don’t talk about Goff much. Tell us your view of Goff.
And as for my view of Goff, it’s very much like Invader’s, though I tend to get more euphoric discussing his best, just wonky good throws.
What I like about that offense, when it’s going, is how it just eats up chunks at a time. All these wonderful 11-15 yarders to the middle of the field. There are times watching them where I look to see what yard line they’re on before the snap and am surprised when they’re inside the opposing team’s 20 or 10 and I go, wait how did they get THERE so fast?! After 5 plays I am supposed to be wondering when they will cross the 50.
…
November 13, 2018 at 9:01 am #93834wvParticipantGoff has a chance to be in the same discussion as Kurt. He may even have more talent than Kurt. But for ‘me’ there’s the regular season — and then there’s the playoffs. Ya know.
We could be watching the evolution of a Hall Of Fame, QB. But we just dont know how much he’s gonna grow.
There’s truly tantalizing omens though. Goff’s does three things, and we all know them:
1. Uncanny Accuracy on his bullets. He can fucking thread the needle. Its even better than Bulger.
2 Weird Balance. Goff can throw…im tempted to say “off balance”… but instead I’ll call it “Goff Balance”.
He defies conventional balance-fundamentals. He dont need no stinkin fundamentals. His legs AND arms can be all wonky, and he still gets off accurate passes. He looks a bit frail, but he plays like he’s made of some sort of gangly-rubber or somethin.3 Pocket Awareness. He’s got good pocket-presence, good pocket-awareness. I never thought Bradford had that. Goff does. He slides and moves and glides in the pocket. He senses things.
Them 3 things are special.
Aikman was right though, sometimes he does miss wide open receivers. But not enough to matter.
I dont say much about Goff, because nothing i just wrote means shit, if he cant do it under pressure in the playoffs. I didnt say much about Kurt either, till he did it in the playoffs.
He’s played, what, 8 + 17 + 9 games? He has come far.

v7 + 16 + 10.
Didn’t play in SF last year and he missed no games this year.
I don;t criticize you for getting the numbers wrong. All people occasionally make incomprehensible errors that border on malicious negligence. So it’s no big deal.

Than I watched Goff and thought something similar.Really like Goff.
I think you all are right about leaving Gaps. I’m very disappointed with that

The Great
1) I get real satisfaction out of sweeping the Hawks.
2) Goff putting up big numbers on a workmanlike day … 300 yards 2 TDs no INTs.
3) Defense finishing the game when it counted.
The Good
4) TDs to TEs …
5) Fowler’s redemption.
6) 8 yard chunks by the O line on the ground.
7) Robert Woods in his role as “most underrated WR in the NFL.”
8) Holding on to Nick Williams.
9) Brandin Cooks pulling the extra weight …
10) Aaron getting 2.5 more sacks on Russell … I want him to have more Russell sacks than anyone else in history.
11) Another buck 20 for Gurley.
The Bad
12) It being as close as it was.
13) How many 15 yard penalties did we have?
14) How many 10+ yard runs did Russell have?
The Ugly
15) 270 rushing yards? Seriously? Like … really. What is that? And what is it with rookies cutting their teeth on us? Ugh.
