July 19, 2024 at 10:47 am #151430znModeratorLance Zierlein@LanceZierleinLes Snead may have been in full FTP mode when he was chasing that title but his impressive rebuild has been almost completely due to his impressive ability to evaluatte talent and isolate high football character players like Nacua, K Turner and Kyren Williams. Just outstanding.July 19, 2024 at 2:49 pm #151432wvParticipant
I would ‘think’ high-football-character and self-motivation matter more than ever now, what with the shortened training sessions etc.
You almost ‘have’ to have guys that WANT to stay in shape and study film etc, etc.

July 19, 2024 at 6:37 pm #151433InvaderRamModeratornot a tweet but i thought i’d put it here.
it’s not particularly an inspired take but i think it’s accurate. i don’t expect a phenomenal season from stafford but only because the oline and running game will be so dominant he won’t need to.
July 20, 2024 at 6:21 pm #151437znModeratorRams Bros.@RamsBrothersThe #Rams have the best record against the NFC West since Sean McVay became the Rams’ head coach in 2017. They’re also the ONLY team in the west with a 3-0 playoff record against NFC West opponents, with wins against each team.….July 21, 2024 at 6:48 pm #151445znModeratorroberto clemente@rclemente2121king kupp has caught a td pass in every 1.8 games he’s played throughout his career (on average), no other rams wide receiver has ever posted a higher career rate (min 100 catches)July 21, 2024 at 6:59 pm #151446znModeratorfrom 3 takeaways from Rams season preview on Bootleg Football podcast: https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2024/7/21/24203136/rams-podcast-bootleg-season-preview?utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_content=turfshowtimes&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social

Kyren and Blake are “Pain in the Ass Committee”

“Brett: Red zone is Kyren Williams and Blake Corum time. This is going to be, actually not even a committee, this is THE committee. This is the pain in the ass committee in the NFL because I wouldn’t be shocked if they end up within 20 carries of each other in terms of the total number. I would not be shocked. Kyren was spectacular last year, I love Kyren now. I didn’t love him as much as a prospect, but now he’s really good.

I think they drafted Blake to keep Kyren fresh because it’s not about September and October and November. It’s about December and January. I would bet it’s going to be such a hellaciously annoying split between the two of them that neither of them are going to perform like people think they will. I think it’s going to be closer to the middle for both.”
July 21, 2024 at 7:41 pm #151447znModeratorJuly 23, 2024 at 6:43 am #151480znModeratorroberto clemente@rclemente2121running backs 200+ yards from scrimmage games.July 23, 2024 at 6:51 am #151481znModeratorBrett Kollmann@BrettKollmann

Long@JB_LongIn 2023, all 14 drafted rookies for the Rams (+ the undrafted long snapper) made the team, and are still on the training camp roster. The Class of 2024 is 10-deep, and I’ll be curious to see if they can go 10/10 starting this week at LMU..Based on recent deals — most recently Quinn Meinerz in DEN — seems the Rams have reason to feel good about being ahead of the acceleration in the guard market, investing in Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson early this offseason (after hitting on Steve Avila in the 2023 draft)..Theme of 2024 could be winning at the margins. Regression in some phases is to be expected; where can Rams progress?

for me special teams and turnovers need to improve.
July 24, 2024 at 7:15 pm #151493znModeratorLos Angeles Rams PR@TheLARamsPRAccording to Aaron Schatz @ASchatzNFL, Rams DL Bobby Brown had a team-best 77% stop rate on run tackles and an average run tackle distance of just 1.7 yards, which ranked in the top 20 in the NFL last season.July 24, 2024 at 8:27 pm #151496wvParticipantyeah. for me special teams and turnovers need to improve.
If turnover rates improve AFTER Aaron Donald retired — well…that would be somethin.

Turnovers probably was addressed by making it a veteran secondary. We’ll see if that works.
Special teams? Kicker aside, Rodrigue argues Rams special teams problems in 2023 had a lot to do with getting so many offensive & defensive rookies trained on limited practice time, which didn’t allow them to drill STs the way they wanted to. That’s probably why they didn’t fire Chase Blackburn–they knew they didn’t give him the time he needed to get very young blocking and coverage units up to snuff.Â
They just could not devote time to STs in 2023, they had so many new faces, many of whom had to be taught how to drill and practice from the ground up. STs never got the time it needed.

yeah. it won’t be easy. let’s hope the rams have two big hits with verse and fiske.
and of course that turner and young build on their rookie seasons.
July 25, 2024 at 10:19 pm #151510InvaderRamModeratorRams CB Derion Kendrick suffered torn ACL and will have surgery in a few weeks McVay said. Did not rule out bringing back Ahkello Witherspoon. CB Darious Williams appeared to strain a hamstring on final play of Thursday practice.
