from NFL Power Rankings Week 14
    https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/NFLpowerranking120820/nfl-power-rankings-week-14-1-32-poll-plus-players-coaches-most-stake

    [Note: inexplicably, Seattle is 6th]

    7. Los Angeles Rams (8-4)
    Week 13 ranking: 10

Person with most at stake: LT Joe Noteboom

The Rams selected Noteboom with a third-round pick in 2018 with the expectation that he would learn under veteran lineman Andrew Whitworth and eventually take over at left tackle. But Whitworth played the duration of his three-year contract he signed in 2017, then inked a new three-year extension over the offseason, leaving Noteboom’s future — at least at left tackle — uncertain. With Whitworth on injured reserve because of a knee injury, Noteboom has the chance over the final four games to prove he can play left tackle in the NFL, whether that be with the Rams or elsewhere, as his contract expires after the 2021 season. — Lindsey Thiry

“It seemed the biggest obstacle the Rams might have in the NFC West was the Seahawks’ remaining schedule, which was very soft. Seattle’s shocking loss to the Giants changes that. If the Rams beat Seattle in Week 16, that should be enough to win them a division title considering they’d clinch the tiebreaker over the Seahawks.”

    5. Los Angeles Rams (8-4)

Best-case scenario: They continue to scheme up the offense for Jared Goff. At this point, we know what we’re getting from the Rams’ defense. It’s one of the best in the league. Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey are both legitimate Defensive Player of the Year candidates. The offense has been far more up and down. Against the Cardinals, Goff’s average pass traveled just 3.5 yards past the line of scrimmage — the lowest average of any Week 13 starter. Yet he still threw for 351 yards. The Rams’ 253 yards after the catch were second most by a team in a single game this season. It was a coaching clinic from Sean McVay on how to help a quarterback succeed. The Rams need more of that to be a Super Bowl contender. One note on seeding: If you’re the Rams, would you rather win the NFC West and host the Bucs or Seahawks, or finish with the five seed and play on the road against the NFC East champ?

    7. Los Angeles Rams (8–4)

Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley is a rising star. The Rams are balanced and have reached the eight-win mark despite being 17th in points scored. Imagine what this team will be once it rises above 24th in percentage of drives that end in a touchdown.
