Worst show of ineptitude I think I’ve ever witnessed. There may have been others, but I’m struggling to remember them. What a freaking joke.

Sounds like I didn’t miss much.
Just terrible.
This team will be lucky to win two more games.

November 22, 2015 at 4:42 pm #34541nittany ramModeratorWell, that was brutal.
But not surprising. The Rams offense is about as ugly as an offense can be. If it was a fish it would be a hagfish or a goblin shark.
The Rams o-line is a mess with injuries and Greg Robinson, who was expected to be the strength of the unit by now still can’t figure out who to block.
It’s no shock that Keenum didn’t play well. I’m not sure he belongs on an NFL roster. Unfortunately with Keenum in the game there was still no noticeable drop-off in performance from Foles.
I’ve had enough of Legatron. The blocked XP was not going to be good anyway. It looked like he hit it too far to the left. And once again he comes up short (actually wide right) in the clutch.
Great defensive effort for the most part. Unfortunately by the time they get this pathetic excuse for an offense squared away the defense will need to be rebuilt.

Hagfish
Goblin sharkThat’s my fear: by the time they get a decent offense–not great just decent–they’ll have to rebuild the defense. Years of misery ahead. So glad I lived to see them get a ring.

Seems like the whole team missed the bus.

I have serious reservations about whether Fisher can fix the offense. Just about every decision he’s made regarding the offense since he’s been in St Louis has blown up in his face. I think he’s out of his depth.

Got word in locker room Rams QB Case Keenum has been diagnosed with a concussion.Well, the Keenum era comes to a merciful end.
Unfortunately, Foles is next man up.
There’s nothing left to play for. Might as well start Foles the rest of the way and see if he can salvage his career. That way they’ll have a better picture of the QB situation going into next season.
November 22, 2015 at 5:50 pm #34556znModeratorI am surprised at the emotions over this game.
They had Keenum at qb after Foles melted down, and a young OL that was made even LESS experienced by having to replace (at this point) 5 different starters…Saffold, Brown, Havenstein, then add Williams (last game) and now Donnal to that.
Frankly I didn’t expect them to be IN the game and yet somehow, ugly as it was, they were.
Yet to me the frustration sounds like people who were expecting much more and got disappointed.

I didn’t expect Keenum to fix anything or even play well. As a matter of fact, the results probably would have been the same had Foles started. And that’s why I’m upset – because a guy who probably shouldn’t be on an NFL roster is no worse than the regular starting QB.
I guess this and all the other issues with the offense and the litany of bad decisions regarding it finally came to a head for me today.
November 22, 2015 at 7:21 pm #34562nittany ramModeratorFrankly I didn’t expect them to be IN the game and yet somehow, ugly as it was, they were.
See I expected them to be in the game today because of the defense. I suspect they will be able to keep most games close because of the defense…until they finally get worn down from carrying the entire burden every week.
However, it’s not like they played the 85 Bears today.
They played a team that was 2 – 7. A team that likely will not get many other wins.
I can understand why you thought they’d get blown out but that just speaks to what an utter mess this offense is that you would expect them to get killed by a 2 – 7 team.
And to be truthful the offense was a mess before the injuries started mounting up. It’s been a mess nearly the entire season.

Baltimore has the closest point differential of any team. Most of their losses actually avg. out to be less than a 3 point difference.

I’m not disappointed with the game it was better than I would have expected under the circumstances. The frustration comes from the realization that this will be another one of the dozen seasons with a losing record and it’s been seven years since Fisher has had a winning season! That’s a lot of losing and I don’t see that ending anytime soon.

This year is different for me. I was
really expecting a great defense,
excellent special teams, and an offense
that started slow, but got better
as the year sent along.
I expected Foles to be a
clutch gamer, who managed
a strong short-pass-game and
hit big plays, enough to win.
I expected big things from Stedman.
I expected more from Britt.
I expected more from Greg Robinson.I dunno. I know the injuries to Q
and Long have hurt the D,
and the OLine has once again
been decimated, so maybe the
team would have come on, had
there not been injuries. Sigh.
Maybe. But Fisher just aint growin on me.
I hate the idea of starting over with
a new system, but I also dont much
like the idea of year FIVE with Fisher.I just know i cant even stand to WATCH
this offense. I cant even watch it.
Its unwatchable for ‘me.’I was expecting ten wins. What will
they end up with now?w

Maybe. To me there’s no doubt. Had Foles not melted down and the OL not been so injury wracked, they would have been fine.

Well, we’ll never know ; the injuries
wrecked any chance they would have had…but
I dunno. My own thing iz, I cant quite figure out
what is:
1) Fisher
2) and what is injuries.Could be they would have been double-digit
winners without the injuries.
Though, maybe Foles was too flawed, and Fisher
sucks in regard to offense. I am not sure
anymore.Either way, whether its key-injuries or Fisher
or both — This is the most disappointing year
for me, since the year the Rams crashed and
burned the year after they met the 49ers in the playoffs.
89? 90? somethin like that.It would not surprise me if they
beat the bengals btw. They’ll get a few
more ugly wins, I would think. Gurley
will have a few more good games,
and some turnovers will go their
way. Enh.w
vNovember 23, 2015 at 1:39 pm #34598DakParticipantI was pleasantly surprised when they scored their second touchdown. And, just as soon as they got the extra point blocked, I knew. Just knew. Another fumble, and another fumble … and just one mistake after another.
Here’s the deal with this team: Blame the O-line injuries, sure. Quinn being out didn’t help. But, what I saw out there was a good enough performance from the fill-ins to win that game.
There were four turnovers, three either by, or caused by, first-round picks:
Tavon muffs a punt.
Gurley fumbles.
And, the worst to me, was Greg Robinson getting beat in crunch time, just flat-out toasted, and Keenum getting stripped.
Then, there’s your drafted kicker, who you can not count on in the clutch, either.
Now, on to Case Keenum. Whew boy. I really did not know that he had such a pop gun arm. This is our backup? This is who beat out Austin Davis? Man alive. Who knew it was possible to take steps back year after year at the QB position?
Even having said that, he made a few plays: And, just as bad as the turnovers, was the only long pass play down the middle that was called back because of stupid penalties.
It’s a frustrating loss because this team has potential, and then never realizes that potential. This team has more talent now (aside from QB), but still blows it. How many times is a big play called back due to penalty? How many times do they allow a big play when the game’s on the line?
And, it’s getting to the point to where I expect it. I just can feel the bad things coming on.
Ah, well. They’ll be LA’s problem, soon. The Raiders are starting to look a little better. They’ve got a decent young QB. Maybe they’ll end up in STL.

one thing. with all these ol injuries is there something the rams coaching staff is or isn’t doing to cause these injuries? or is it just extremely bad luck?

The Rams do seem to be a statistical outlier as far as o-line injuries go.
Or do other teams experience injuries at a similar rate?
I wonder if there is variation based on blocking schemes? For example, is reach zone blocking associated with a higher injury rate than power blocking?
My gut tells me ‘no’ – the Rams have just been unlucky – but I wonder if such a study has ever been done…
November 23, 2015 at 8:10 pm #34621znModeratorI wonder if there is variation based on blocking schemes? For example, is reach zone blocking associated with a higher injury rate than power blocking?
They weren’t a zone team in the first half of 2012 when they had 8 different players at OC, LOG, and LOT in the first 8 games (Wells, Turner, Watkins, Ojinakka, Saffold, Hunter, Barksdale, and Smith).
So far this OL has also had 8 different players at LOG, ROG, and ROT (Saffold, Brown, Havenstein, Reynolds, Williams, Donnal, Wichman, and Rhaney).
Same numbers so far, but completely different types of offenses. Very little if any zone in 2012.
In 2007 they started 12 different linemen total. (Pace, Barron, Setterstrom, McCollum, Romberg, Milford Brown, Terrel, Steussie, Lecky, Goldberg, Gorin, and Petitti.) That’s not counting in-game injury subs. That included replacements at all 5 positions. The only guy who played the entire season was Barron, and he switched from right to left OT. They started 5 different ROTs that year.

November 23, 2015 at 8:15 pm #34622InvaderRamModeratorwell i remember when isaac was having all those hamstring issues and the rams had to alter his conditioning habits. just wondering if maybe the lifting and conditioning habits need to be altered for the linemen. this has been like going on for at least the last five years. it’s getting ridiculous.
