I have always been at odds with the home town fans, and I guess I like it that way. Being the contrarian. You know.

    Yeah, that’s how I feel.

But Zooey, you grew up in So Cal, didn’t you?

By virtue of the absurd ...

No. I was born in Los Angeles, but moved to NoCal when I was 6-months old.

I became a Dodgers fan because one of my idiot brothers told me that they had a player who hit a lot of triples, and had “3-dog” written on his shoes (Willie Davis). That was enough for a 6-year old to become a Dodgers fan.

I became a Rams fan because I became sensitive to my mom saying that I liked or disliked certain things just because my idiot brothers did, and two of my idiot brothers are Cowboys fans. So I chose the Rams because they had the coolest helmets, and they were from the same place as the Dodgers, and I was born there, and it all seemed to add up in a nice, tidy package.

Later, I learned the benefits of contrariness.

    Relocation might be an issue
for some free agents, i suppose.

IMO this is its own thread. Might spark interest. You okay with that? Up to you.

I really never care about the moving
    of wv-posts.

As long as they are not moved
    to New Jersey.

If they move them and call them the LA Earthquakes or LA Tremors or any damn thing to do with the ground moving… or the ocean moving… LA Waves… LA Riptide… LA Sewage Spills (although that has a special NFL ring to it)

…then I’m just done with them.

I’ll switch to rooting for Tampa. I mean… I’ve been a Rams fan since the mid ’70s… at worst, it’s losing football with incompetent coaching and incredulously bad front office management. As a Rams Fan, I’m not just used to that, I’m frankly surprised when I don’t GET that…

So, no dilemma let alone nightmare for me. Pretty simple.

But one thing at a time.

I still have to see if I can survive the migraine that will come from the announcement that IS COMING that Jake Long will be coming back at reduced salary to man the RT position after Barksdale signs somewhere else…

Because Jake Long hasn’t gotten Bradford injured enough…

Sports is the crucible of human virtue. The distillate remains are human vice.

As I said, that’s my temptation too. I would see no good reason for them doing that and I would also see them doing that as a betrayal.

That’s what I say now, today, in the abstract, in response to a hypothetical…though, who knows what would really happen. I mean I never rationally intended to get hooked in the first place. s I didn’t say, long ago, “now what sports team will I get addicted to.”

But sitting here now, I THINK that them “abandoning the colors” … the logo and tradition … would not sit well. It would look like a crass convenience and I would probably just pick another team. I even think I know what it would be. The Colts. I have family and friends back there who follow them, and I would just join them on their couch, so to speak. Sure as heck wouldn;t be the Patz or Giants, my 2 local options.
