    =================================
    LA ram

I’ve often read a number of posts talking about how athletic Alec Ogletree is. Since I’ve never agreed, I thought I would post on it.

    Combine results

    AO

    40 – 4.70
    Vert – 33.5
    BJ – 122
    3 cone – 7.16
    20yd shuttle – 4.39

    J-Lau

    40 – 4.88
    Vert – 33
    BJ – 115
    3 cone – 6.93
    20yd shuttle – 4.24

These were results after training for speed, strength and quickness.

AO is slow, short and long and is not a fast twitch athlete. I’ve often pointed out that he put up numbers because he was in GW’s will position which allowed him to roam and make plays uncovered. Barron did the same an IMO was even better at making explosive plays.

Look at the power and quickness indicators between he and J-Lau.

He is not an athletic player and if you compare his numbers with some of the better linebackers in football, he fails miserably in comparison.

I would bet Georgia moved him to LB because he didn’t have the athletic skills at safety.

Couple this with the fact he’s not an explosive athlete when taking on lineman, IMO he and the Rams struggle in the middle.

Note: If the athletic numbers aren’t enough for you, pop in the 2013 game against the Cowboys and the 2014 Seattle game. Watch AO

These combine indicators show up on the field.

Well, I don’t think it’s necessarily the case at all that they moved AO to the middle because Barron was better on the outside. I think they like the idea of both of them being on the field at the same time. I have seen AO be a dynamic player under WMs. and won’t be surprised if the combo of the Barron and AO is a good one.

i will say this. i think the current ogletree is way more athletic than the laurinaitis that was cut by the rams if not the laurinatis that the rams drafted.

I think Ogletree replacing Laurinaitis, is more about the process than anything. There is going to be roster turnover for many reasons, Salary Cap, Age, Injuries, Playing 16 games a year, etc. If you are a Ram and have 6 or more years of experience, you are a Grey Beard. 😉
