I wonder if they’ll just give it to him.

January 3, 2017 at 1:47 pm #62304joemadParticipantLance should’ve caught the dropped pass in the Endzone vs. Miami….
January 3, 2017 at 2:44 pm #62306sanbaggerParticipantI’m kinda glad he didn’t collect that bonus because I certainly don’t feel as though he earned it.
The funny thing is I think it was one of those hidden money types of contract issues…a goal that should be easily attainable yet due to his drops he doesn’t get the money.
I’m done with LK and his contract shows 0 dead money…he could be a casualty headed in to next year…wouldn’t hurt my feelings.
January 3, 2017 at 3:13 pm #62307znModeratorI’m done with LK
I personally disagree. The way I see LK, he has mostly been effective across the years as a good role player, but when he’s effective, he tends to get overlooked. When he stumbles it gets magnified.
You know most of the years he has been a Ram, LK has led the Rams in catch percentage. That’s in addition to his blocking. He stumbled some in 2016, but I don’t hold that against him. IMO it would be a mistake to let LK go.
January 3, 2017 at 3:36 pm #62308ZooeyModeratorThey can’t give it to him.
If they do, then everyone and his agent will be approaching owners and saying, “We missed by THIS much,” and it becomes a nightmare.
In any event, I don’t think the league would allow it, either. A contract is a contract. It has nothing to do with goodwill.
January 3, 2017 at 4:17 pm #62310bnwBlockedHe should drop less passes. Problem solved.
The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

This year that was a problem.
Other years it wasn’t.
So which one was LK.

I thought the same thing last year Zn. Take a look at his stats and you will see just how subpar they are and I’m grading on a curve due to O-line and QB’s.
Also..He’s just not that good as a blocker..I have come to that conclusion and now that he costs absolutely nothing against the cap to release vice 4.25 Mil to keep..to me this is a no brainer.
This is kind of an issue now with the coach changes going on because he has the most experience on the team and at only 4 mil he may get a year from the incoming group…that’s a mistake IMO.
We can agree to disagree here zn if you like, but take a good look at his stats and you will see he’s just not that good. Also, remember what your eyes told you and if you saw something different than I did than you can justify him staying.
As far as I’m concerned it’s time to move on from him and use his 4.25 mil cap space for some FA contracts.
January 3, 2017 at 5:58 pm #62319InvaderRamModeratoryeah. let him go. they can find someone else.

I know.
But this is the trick with THIS year—so many things were subpar that you have to remember that’s just 2016.
Otherwise you throw out the baby with the bathwater.
I don’t hold one lackluster year against Kendricks. He’s not replaceable because he spent a career playing many different roles. There would be no one like him. And for several years he led the team in catch percentage.
My fear is some new coach overreacts and throws out too many players. Then this will happen—Kendricks will go to someone like the Patz and we will hear for a couple of years how good he is at his combined role, H-back thing.
My motto is, you don’t hold 2016 against everyone. Quick I can see letting go. Kendricks? To me that’s overreaction.
And just cause he’s not a star type doesn’t mean he hasn’t been valuable…and he can be again, easily.

Did he get a new contract before this season began? If so then Dropsies is who he is now.

Just because I only hi-lited this part of your post don’t think I disregarded your point…I just kinda feel like we’re in a stalemate on that so I grabbed this because it’s interesting.
I worry a little about that as well…because I think there is talent on this team…and they are young with a little tape for the incoming coaches to watch, aside from practice tape.
There are Vets that are going to be released because they are gonna have to bring in some FA’s I just don’t think I want to see a wide swipe because they may be getting rid of some keepers.
January 3, 2017 at 7:28 pm #62339AgamemnonParticipantI have conflicting views on the subject. Some of the time I think we are fine, we just need a bit to get over the hump and then I think we should just tear everything down and almost start over. But, if we did that, we would not have anyone left. 😉
There aren’t any vets that are crippling the cap. They need to get value when they spend their money on FAs. imo
Their top 14 guys only take up about 47% of the cap. Cutting most of them doesn’t help the cap for 2017.

That’s a key point, IMO. The Rams have done a terrific job with regards to the cap…If the Rams decide they want to keep a guy like LK they easily can do that, and it won’t surprise me to see him at camp next year.
That’s gonna help lure the coach they want because they are gonna have to get past the whole draft pick issue.

That right there is some great posting technique.
