    RB Todd Gurley’s Rams contract is for 4 years, $13.823 million. Every penny is guaranteed. He gets a signing bonus of $8.313 million.

    Even if Gurley’s on non-football injury list for 2015 and ’16, the club pays his full salary in those two years.

    is that pretty standard nowadays for first round picks? guaranteeing every single dollar of the contract?

    The contracts of rookie players are set by the CBA with little variation. All draftees have a four year contract. For 1st round players all four years are guaranteed. (Also each 1st round draft choice is subject to a fifth year option.) Each player will get a signing bonus, determined by their draft position. For those drafted in rounds 2 and 3 the signing bonus is large enough to make cutting them the first year impracticable due to the CAP hit.

    This is good information. I guess the league and the players union compromised – lower rookie salary structure for the first round picks in exchange for four years guaranteed.
