    Rams chat with Jim Thomas

    http://live.stltoday.com/Event/Rams_chat_with_Jim_Thomas_58?Page=4

Jim – How surprised are you that Armstrong was released?
    by McGarrett 2:01 PM[/i]

A little. But I’m sure Fisher figured he had to do something. Like Fisher said Monday , in the end he’s the one to blame because Armstrong kept making mistakes over and over and Fisher kept letting him play.
    by jthomas 2:03

Hi Jim – Do you know if Dave Peacock has an active role in keeping the Rams in St. Louis?
    by Bettis36 2:03 PM

He’s been involved behind the scenes.
    by jthomas 2:04

I read/heard Fischer’s remarks on why Givens was inactive last week but in your opinion is the writing on the wall that he might be on his way out?
From what I saw the O-Line played well but how long before they are forced to play the #2 pick from the draft? At least a few series… Is he really that far behind or that bad? Someone needs to ask the more questions to the people making draft decisions. Seems like they are getting a free pass.
    by RamsFAN 2:04 PM

Too early to tell on Givens. After Pettis’ drops vs. Philly (although the second looked like a good defensive play), maybe Pettis is down this week and Givens is up. Overall though, it can’t be looked at as a good sign. Keep in mind though Britt is on a one-year deal. So if Britt signs elsewhere, maybe Givens stays. As for Robinson, as I’ve mentioned for the last couple of weeks, with every week he doesn’t play, it becomes more puzzling. Fisher and Les Snead make the draft decisions _ Fisher is asked about Robinson every week _ so no one is getting a free pass.
    by jthomas 2:08

Has anybody asked Fisher if he knows that he is going to get the axe when the Rams move to LA? they will have to get a competent coach to sell tickets to the new fan base.
    by Jake 2:08 PM

Only utter disaster could lead to the firing of Fisher, and even then I’m not sure if Kroenke wants to pay two salaries.
    by jthomas 2:08

Any new news on a move to LA?
    by WorriedFan 2:09 PM

    None.
    by jthomas 2:09

hey jim every week the same mistakes are made it seems to me that t comes down to coaching are the drafts that bad I think the coaching is not up to par you would think a fischer team would be better prepared thoughts
    by big nick 2:10 PM

That’s a broad question. For one thing, some of the mistakes are being made by players that Fisher didn’t draft. Fisher’s teams to a degree were known for penalties in Tennessee. But I don’t think it was anything like we’re seeing now. It’s a very young team. And in general young players are more prone to make mistakes. But I don’t think that’s an excuse for Fisher because he has stated that he likes a young team. No simple answers. It is mind-boggling, however, that the mistakes are continuing.
    by jthomas 2:12

Which is the worst performing group so far. I vote LB. although I give Dunbar a passing grade. JL and Tree guess their way out of position right at the snap, or even pre-snap.
by Jeff In Utah 2:13 PM

I don’t think there’s any doubt it’s the defensive line.
    by jthomas 2:13

Not excusing our D-line, but it seemed like Jason Peters would get an early start on about every 3rd passing play last week, but nothing was ever called. I know several people who noticed this. Do the coaches pay attention to things like this and notify the head linesman or the line judge during the game?
    by Pete Adkins 2:15 PM

Of course the coaches pay attention Fisher made mention of this (Peters) on Monday. It’s amazing that the officials didn’t notice.
    by jthomas 2:16

What happened to the pass rush?
    by james 2:16 PM

Apparently #SackCity has relocated to another town.
    by jthomas 2:16

Jim, Time for your favorite game, Name the Percentages. Percentage Bradford is starting QB next year, Davis is starting QB, and the every popular Other? Thanks.
    by Bull 2:17 PM

Hey Bull. Bradford 50 percent. Davis 30. Others 20.
    by jthomas 2:17

Why do the Rams players celebrate everything? Make a tackle -> dance around / 2 yard run -> dance around / down by 20? -> dance around / complete a pass -> dance around / don’t complete a pass -> dance around
    by Jake 2:17 PM

Personally, I would pass a rule. No celebrating if you’re down by more than two touchdowns..
    by jthomas 2:20

Bradford 50%????? JT, it must be something in the water out at Rams parks that causes those who drink it to pledge blind loyalty to Bradford. The plug needs to be pulled on the Bradford Era in St. Louis, period.
    by Tackleberry 2:20 PM

I wouldn’t say 50% constitutes blind loyalty. 90 percent, maybe.
    by jthomas 2:20

What’s your take on tight end/special teams guy Alex Bayer? He had some good looks in the preseason. Was wondering if they’ll mix him in on the offense this season?
    by RamsRock 2:21 PM

I think Bayer’s a pretty good prospect. But the Rams are pretty set at tight end right now with Cook, Kendricks and Harkey. For now, Bayer’s been limited to special teams only, and I think it’ll stay that way barring injury.
    by jthomas 2:23

You pointed out Gregg Williams’ poor penchant for 3 man fronts, this season. Did that change against the Eagles?
    by bfulton 2:23 PM

I haven’t had a chance to look at the tape this week _ and may not get a chance since I’m working on a Super Bowl XXXIV reunion project. But I can’t recall seeing a single 3-man front vs. Philly.
    by jthomas 2:24

Would Tom Coughlin sit Kendricks and start Bayer next game to send a message to “stop the pre-snap penalties McFly!” I think Fisher may be too nice.
by Jeff In Utah 2:25 PM

Kendricks has been one of the team’s more dependable/reliable performers. I think that entitles him to more leeway than say Armstrong.
    by jthomas 2:25

How Long is Chris Long out? (
    Hey Pun highly INTENDED)
by Ghost of Deacon J. 2:26 PM

I believe, the earliest he can return under the injured reserve/designated for return rule is Nov. 9.
    by jthomas 2:30

Who was added to the active roster to replace armstrong?
    by Rams NM 2:30 PM

Rams are still looking at players.
    by jthomas 2:30

After 5 games, who has looked better Jason Smith(the former worst draft pick ever), or Greg Robinson?? Considering Robinson can’t even start over Joseph, or see the field at all, in any way; the logical answer would be Smith. — That being said, can you recall a worse draft pick in the history not just for the Rams, but in the history of the NFL?
    by kevin 2:31 PM

You don’t judge draft picks after 4 games. (Or 4 non-games.)
    by jthomas 2:31

if davis continues to play this well, do you think they would even consider keeping him as starter next year and not addressing QB with high draft pick? Id like to see bradford(at a reduced salary) duke it out with davis next year
    by kman 2:31 PMPM

    That’s possible.
    by jthomas 2:32 PM

Should Rams fans really be upset with Kroenke if he moved the team to LA when he has the chance? I don’t recall him pledging loyalty to the city, and in the end it’s a business decision. Personally, I want the team to stay in STL (very badly) and would hate to see them go to LA. But I would understand from his perspective if he did make the move to LA. Are people upset just because we’re looking for someone to be mad at? Or does it make sense to be mad at the owner?
    by RamsAreAwesome 2:32 PMPM

It’s been a while. But Kroenke has said in the past that he takes pride in helping to bring football to St. Louis _ to his home state.
    by jthomas 2:32 PM

Hi, Jim. Chase Reynolds is on this team for one reason and one reason only – special teams. If that is your only job, how tough can it be to understand that if you can read the name of the guy you are thinking about blocking, don’t block him? Reynolds is not a rookie, he is a seasoned vet who has nothing else to think about other than special teams play. On the TV replay, it looked like the player didn’t turn at the last minute, Reynolds just got beat and decided to block the guy in the back five feet in front of the ball carrier and hope that none of the refs saw it. Will he get the message from Ray-Ray’s departure? If Fisher accepts some of the blame for letting Ray-Ray keep playing after dumb penalties, will we see Chase sitting next week?
    by George M. 2:33 PMPM

Reynolds took the guy closest to the kicker’s foot, which is what you’re supposed to do.
    by jthomas 2:34 PM

Why do we get a 20+ inch story on an undrafted special teams player getting cut from a 1-3 team and nothing on the reports swirling about the Rams moving to LA? What is the Rams’ comment on these stories? If they don’t deny the reports, it seems like a pretty big deal.
    by Tipping Pitchers 2:36 PM

I’ve mentioned this a few times on this chat. It’s my job to cover the team. That is, the things going on with the team. Our city desk is covering the possible move. And it is not our job to respond to every rumor that comes down the pike on the move to LA. There is a lot of bad/unsubstantiated info out there.
    by jthomas 2:38

I thought the play I was referring to, in which Reynolds got a penalty for blocking in the back, was on a kick return, not on a Rams kick. Reynolds got beat by one of the coverage guys for the Eagles, then drilled the guy in the back just in front of the Rams return guy.
    by George M. 2:41 PMPM

My bad, thought you were referring to the blocked punt. Yeah it was a stupid penalty. But even that is different than just carelessly shoving a player after a play is over. And how many stupid penalties have you seen from Reynolds over the past couple of years? Not many. We’re not talking Ray Ray Armstrong here.
    by jthomas 2:43 PM

Hi Jim, another deflating performance by the Rams where they start aweful, give you some hope then crush you in the end. It’s getting to the point where they are totally shredding my mood on Sundays. I could totally see them beating San Francisco then losing to Seattle in a deflating way like last year. IM SICK AND TIRED OF ROOTING FOR A LOSER!
    by SteveSPN 2:45 PMPM

It’s like being forced to watch a bad movie, over and over.
    by jthomas 2:45 PM

I thought with addition of Donald, a more experienced Ogletree and a healthy McDonald the running defense would be above average. Do they not have the personel to stop the run? How are Brockers and Larianitis playing?
by Greg in Raleigh 2:45 PMPM

Didn’t we all. Well, it’s largely the same personnel that they had a year ago, and played the run better. Brockers hasn’t played all that well in my opinion. Laurinaitis has been all right.
    by jthomas 2:46 PM

Is it me or is McDonald lost in coverage often………very often.
    by Ben S. 2:47 PMPM

Well, he certainly didn’t play the pass interference play very well.
    by jthomas 2:47 PM

I believe Chris Long to be a much better player than many fans give him credit for. Do you think his loss has affected this Dline this much, especially Quinn. Or perhaps they just arent that good and Quinn overachieved last year?
    by Ramsfanwinorlose 2:47 PMPM

Obviously, it doesn’t help not having him out there. I don’t think Quinn overachieved. I do think his loss has hurt the team more than anticipated.
    by jthomas 2:48 PM

    Any word on Bradfords rehab.
    by Ben S. 2:48 PMPM

Not really. It’s very early. He is moving around surprisingly well though.
    by jthomas 2:49 PM

Is Davis the long term answer at qb?
    by Kevin 2:49 PMPM

Can’t be determined after 3 starts. For starters, let’s see how he does against San Francisco and Seattle.
    by jthomas 2:50 PM

With the huge flow of reports coming in that the Rams are heading to LA how can you maintain 55-45 they stay? It’s confusing.
    by Sam 2:50 PMPM

What constitutes a “huge flow?” The few I’ve seen I wouldn’t call “reports.”
    by jthomas 2:53 PM

Fisher trys to avoid QB controversy, but next year he is going to have a big one with Davis, Bradford and a highly drafted rookie.
    by Ben S. 2:53 PMPM

If the Rams have a highly-drafted rookie QB.
    by jthomas 2:53 PM

Let’s say the Rams go 5-11 or 6-10 which is what I think will happen. Does Fisher come back?
    by Sam 2:54 PMPM

    Probably.
    by jthomas 2:54 PM

Afternoon J.T., as impressive as the second half drive by the offensive, was it more of a gimme by the Eagles trying not to loose? sure wont see that with the 49ers.
    by Tim S. 2:54 PMPM

I didn’t see what I would consider a prevent defense out there by the Eagles. I saw plenty of blitzing in the second half.
    by jthomas 2:55 PM

Jim, looks like Michael Brockers is struggling to shed blockers. Somewhat strange to you?
    by Tyler 2:56 PMPM

Agreed. I’m wondering if he lost too much weight in the offseason.
    by jthomas 2:57 PM

When teams play on Monday, what is the typical schedule for Sunday?
    by Tyler 2:57 PMPM

Everything is pushed back a day. So a Sunday is like a Saturday. Walk-through in the morning, team meetings, curfew.
    by jthomas 2:58 PM

any word on Zack Stacy’s ankle?
    by Rams NM 2:58 PMPM

Fisher said Monday he thought Stacy would miss some practice time this week, but thought he should be able to play against 49ers.
    by jthomas 2:58

Why can’t the # 2 pick, 3rd and 4th rounder get on the field? It isn’t like the O-line, RB or safety position is overflowing with talent
by Greg in Raleigh 2:58 PM

I’ll answer it this way again: Robinson is puzzling, Mason needs to learn to pass block, and I thought Alexander was over-drafted. I do agree however with what I think you’re getting at. How does a team that hasn’t had a winning season since 2003 not draft players who can have a more immediate impact _ particularly in the top half of the draft?
    by jthomas 3:01

Jim, St. Louis has 8 fortune 500 companies in the city. That is 16th in the NFL compared to other cities. How can the NFL just throw away the STL market size and cooperate money by leaving (if it happens)?
    by Tyler 3:02 PM

Who says they’re just throwing StL away?
    by jthomas 3:02

Let’s face it. Quick is blossoming into a top wideout. Should that give fans hope for players like Olinemen Robinson and CB Jenkins?
    by bfulton 3:02 PM

    Of course.
    by jthomas 3:02

It looks like we get less disciplined as the season goes on. Who do you feel will be held accountable for the lack of discipline and penalties? At some point Fisher has to be held accountable?????
    by Rams 45 3:02 PM

    Of course.
    by jthomas 3:02

Some thought Trumaine Johnson would be back after the bye…..how close is he and will Gaines slide inside?
    by Tyler 3:02 PM

After the bye was always a longshot. I’d say 2 to 3 weeks on Johnson.
    by jthomas 3:03

what is wrong with our #1 pick, Greg Robinson. Seems like our line could really use some help, and Jake Long is more of a liability – he couldn’t even fall on a ball without looking like a braced-up robot.
    by Rich G 3:03 PM

No doubt that was a bad play by Long. But for the most part he’s played pretty well this season.
    by jthomas 3:04

so if watts is better than mason in all those catagories as an UDFA why the hell did they draft mason in the 3rd round?!?!?
    by eman 3:05 PM

I’m not saying Watts is a better runner than Mason. He just outperformed him in the preseason. I don’t think anybody doubts that who watched the preseason games. Mason can always learn to pass block _ he just didn’t have to do it at Auburn. And Mason can always improve on pass-catching. Again, it’s something he didn’t have to do in college. By the way, there are lots of UDFA’s who end up as better players than draft picks. Kurt Warner, London Fletcher might ring a bell.
    by jthomas 3:09

jim who wins monday night i picked the rams
    by roc 3:09 PM

Haven’t formulated my pick yet. I’m leaning ‘Niners, however.
    by jthomas 3:09

Jim, do you see a big week from Corey Harkey in the flat against SF to keep them honest? Davis better be alert to where Perrish Cox is at all times.
    by Tyler 3:10 PM

Harkey’s a solid player and a tough guy. But if you’re counting on him to keep teams honest with his pass-catching, well that’s probably not going to work.
    by jthomas 3:11

Why does Fisher and Snead gamble on “potential” rather than going for NFL Ready type players? Case in point, we should have drafted Jake Matthews as opposed to Greg Robinson. Can’t go wrong with the blood lines of the Matthews family plus Fisher coached his dad in Houston and Tennessee.
by Ohio Rams Fan 3:11 PM

That’s kind of how they roll. And you should include Rich Snead in that group as well. who has the title of senior player personnel analyst.
    by jthomas 3:13

The level of play is currently hard to watch. The Rams find many ways to lose. Will it ever change?
    by FRUSTRATED 3:13 PM

We can only hope. Definitely has a Groundhog’s Day feel to it.
    by jthomas 3:13

Jim, I’ve hard the name Dave Peacock involved in potential negotiations. Good thing for the city?
    by Tyler 3:13 PM

Yeah. Somebody’s got to lead the charge. He has an A-B background.
    by jthomas 3:14

Given what we know now, any players we cut after training camp you wish we could have back that might have made a difference?
    by LittleBen 3:14 PM

Off the top of my head, I’d say not really.
    by jthomas 3:15

If the Rams win 6 games or less this year, what do you think the chances are that Stan will mandate/strongly suggest that Fisher hires a new offensive coordinator? I love Tavon Austin’s potential, but his talents are being wasted by this offensive scheme.
by Ohio Rams Fan 3:16 PM

The offense has averaged 26 points and more than 450 yards a game the last two games and you want to fire the coordinator. Really?
    by jthomas 3:17

Maybe Sack City already relocated to LA?
    by The RAMMER 3:17 PM

Could be. They’re certainly not in St. Louis.
    by jthomas 3:18

Saw your story on Ethan Westbrooks, looks like we may have something here. He is very active on gameday.
    by Tyler 3:18 PM

He’s getting a little better each time out.
    by jthomas 3:18

Any talk of extending Britt now?? Before end of season?
by Jeff In Utah 3:18 PM

Don’t think you do that after nine catches and four games. We’ll see.
    by jthomas 3:18

Any predictions on some of the attendance levels at the Ed and are you concerned with potential bad crowds that people could point at?
    by Tyler 3:19 PM

Very curious to see how many empty seats there are for the 15-year celebration of the 1999 Super Bowl championship team.
    by jthomas 3:19

That’s 2 weeks with good output by the offense, What have they done the first two years under Shotty?
by Ohio Rams Fan 3:20 PM

The Rams scored more touchdowns and more points last season than any Rams team since 2006.
    by jthomas 3:20

How has the secondary looked? Thansk
    by Paul 3:21 PM

I’d still say that overall they’ve played a little better than anticipated. But they still have to cut down on some of the big plays leading to “free” TDs. Like the botched coverages against Philly and Dallas that led to TD passes.
    by jthomas 3:23

Is this mess the result of Fisher being in charge? Is he really a personnel man? Snead seems to be a figure head.
    by boringrams 3:23 PM

Snead is getting the kinds of players that Fisher wants. You know, players that in theory are fits.
    by jthomas 3:23

Saying that they put up more points that any rams team since 2006 really isnt saying much and a terrible aguementative point. Although i thought Shotty has done well this season.
    by eman 3:24 PM

How so? Improvement is improvement, especially with what Schotty inherited.
    by jthomas 3:25

Notice during Dallas week, we outdrew the Cincinnati Bengals. Why aren’t they moving to LA?
    by dj101 3:45 PM

Don’t think Cincy’s lease expires after this season.
    by jthomas 3:45

What do you make of the. Nbc report about two teams coming to so cal
by ron from so cal 3:45 PM

Not a whole lot. There wasn’t much detail to the story. And Pro Football talk deals with a lot of rumor and gossip.
    by jthomas 3:46

I like Fisher but at what point does the team’s record become a reflection of him? i could understand if our woes were offense oriented due to Sams loss but its the defense and accumulation of penalties that kill us. “You are what your record says you are” should apply to coaches as well.
    by Matt 3:47 PM

It’s a reflection of him now and every week.
    by jthomas 3:47

Glad to see Armstrong was released. SOMEthing had to be done to send a message that stupid play will not be tolerated. That said, he didn’t whiff on the blocked punt that cost us a touchdown. Is the special teams coach on the hot seat?
    by Tom 3:47 PM

I’m sure John Fassel has had better weeks.
    by jthomas 3:48

Hi Jim, Overall how would you rate Gaines at DB? I think he has a ton of potential to be a really good NFL DB he is a little raw and makes rookie mistakes but once he learns I think he will be exceptional.
    by johnny 3:48 PM

Good potential. Had some struggles vs. Dallas. But bounced back against Philly. He is aggressive. Has good ball skills. Pretty good tackler. Stays poised. Game doesn’t seem to big for him.
    by jthomas 3:50

Why is Aaron Donald their best D lineman so far not starting and/or playing more? Second – 2 and a quarter years of stupid penalties and now you get tough a little late don’t you think
by Way up north 3:52 PM

Would like to see Donald more.
    by jthomas 3:52

I am not totally sold on Austin Davis, but he has played well. But its not just him. Bradford and Hill looked good before getting hurt. Our receivers may have some drops, but their routes are much better. Our whole passing game is better this entire year. The mindset of it. Do we have a new receivers coach? Qb coach? Did Britt come in and start it by saying “Just throw me the ball, I’ll get it.”. Did Hill start it off? Whats up? The timing and willingness to throw the deep sideline pass has been there through preseason. Remember how Bradford was eating up 3rd and 20’s (thanks to penalties, hmm, may want to watch that) in the third preseason game? SB was afraid to let the ball go in previous years until he saw his man had a few steps. He wasn’t this year, nor Hill, nor Davis. Britt’s TD was a “chuck it” and give your guy a chance to get it. And it worked. Like Romo to Bryant.
Something changed in the Attitude and Confidence of our passing game, I just do not know where it came from.
by Jeff In Utah 3:53 PM

Maybe it’s just that the wide receivers have grown and matured. That the patience of the coaching staff with this group is starting to pay off.
    by jthomas 3:54

It seemed to me that the O-Line did not play well, and the defensive line was not very good either. Your thoughts?
    by Tom 3:56 PM

    Not going to disagree.
    by jthomas 3:56

Jim: Thanks for the chat. Always great. One thing that bothers me is the officiating inconsistency. We see questionable calls made and then we see obvious penalties not called such as the Dallas Cowboys holding on the long Dez Bryant pass against the Rams, and last night, in the Seattle game, blatant holding by Seattle on a third and long was let go which led to a big gain. It’s almost as if the NFL is choreographing the outcomes as the calls and non calls occur at critical times in games. Thanks for letting me rant.
    by UncleFestor 3:58 PM

Such is the state of NFL officiating these days. The game moves fast and there are too many calls that depend on interpretation and judgment.
    by jthomas 3:59

Jim yet another bitter pill to swallow each Rams year is seeing other cellar-dwelling teams from immediate-past seasons come bouncing back handsomely in the win column. The Rams never bounce back handsomely they just go splat ugly, why is that?
    by Sacramento Ram 4:01 PM

    They could be cursed.
    by jthomas 4:01

How much do you think did the Philly quick offense affect the Rams D line play?
    by UncleFestor 4:01 PM

I don’t think the up-tempo bothered the Rams defense, much if at all. Foles did make some quick passes, and those could be tough to defend. But there were several downfield throws by the Eagles and the Rams just couldn’t get there, although they came close several times.
    by jthomas 4:03

HOw many years does Austin Davis have on his contract?
    by bfulton 4:06 PM

Davis is under contract only until the end of this season but he doesn’t have enough time in the league to become an unrestricted free agent. So the Rams still control his rights.
    by jthomas 4:07

If Sam Bradford is cut after this season, how much does he count against next year’s cap?
    by bfulton 4:08 PM

It would be a relatively minor cap hit _ think somewhere around $3.6 million.
    by jthomas 4:08

Jim, I have been a Ram’s fan since the 80’s, here on the left coast. (No condolences necessary–for the ‘Ram’s Fan’ portion, of course. Anyway, I have been a Sunday Ticket subscriber since ’95, and have literally seen EVERY game since. My question to you is this; Aside from the talent of the GSOT, what changed in the culture surrounding that team, in ’99, from the top down, for them to go worst to first? What will break this culture of losing?
    by rob 4:09 PM

No. 1 was Dick Vermeil, who instilled a positive attitude and a “we’re all in their together.” The addition of Mike Martz as offensive coordinator in 1999. The additions of Marshall Faulk and Adam Timmerman in free agency, and Torry Holt through the draft. Vermeil also cut back some on the length of practices and the overall amount of time in pads.
    by jthomas 4:10

Now that they are well into their third year, do you think Brockers and Jenkins have lived up to the expectations?

Brockers not off to a great start this year. Jenkins has been more consistent than last year. So I’d say right now _ at this point _ Brockers hasn’t lived up to expectations. I don’t recall expectations being great for Jenkins when he came out. It was kind of a risky pick, given Jenkins

Jim, I have got to tell you that I am sick about hearing about Kronke & the Rams moving. It is Bill Bidwell & the Big Red REDUX and you know how that turned out. Building a new stadium to keep them is a no brainer. Its a win-win for everyone and would provide thousands of construction jobs for our crappy regions economy and be a source of pride for our community. I just don’t get the opposition to it or our politicos aversion to agressively advocating it. The Dome will still be of use for many years of conventions, BB Ball, other events, etc…Look at Indianapolis. Much smaller town and when you drive through it the one thing you remember about driving through is that beautiful Lucas Stadium. We have to build a new stadium now!!! We cannot lose the NFL again or else it will be gone for good…

You’re preaching to the choir here.

Thanks for the chats. Tavon Austin multiple choice: 1. He’s not as talented as we thought, his college game tape fooled the NFL and the Rams. 2. He’s not as bright as we thought and can’t grasp an NFL playbook into his 2nd season. 3. We don’t know what to do with him, despite all the other good work Schotty has done this season and he would thrive on another team given the chance.

Answer to 1-2-3- _ Too early to tell.
    by jthomas 4:18 PM

Man! JT, this season bites!!!!!! At least QB Austin Davis is highly competative but the Dropsie Boyz (Pettis/Cook/Kendricks) they gotta go!!!!! Your thoughts?
by Ghost of Deacon J. 4:18 PMPM

Rams had done a good job catching the ball in the first 3 games (even factoring in the Jared Cook drop vs. Dallas), but Sunday looked like a throwback to 2013, 2012. . . .

Hi Jim enjoy the chats and the coverage I get from you….Am a life long Rams fan so I’ve been through a lot more than STL fans…..believe me. What do you think Fisher is thinking this week when the Rams are celebrating their SB34 win and have to relive his loss against them? You know inside he is not a happy camper that he is not wearing the SB34 ring…….Thanks again for the chats
    by Anthony85 4:20 PMPM

Yeah, I’ve thought of that. He certainly had a chance to get that ring. But overall, I think he’s got other things on his mind _ like 1-3, mistakes, and the San Francisco 49ers.

Youve been saying you feel that Quinn has been playing well, but no sacks in 4 games? Come on…do you still feel that way?
    by kman 4:21 PMPM

I said he played pretty well against Minnesota and Tampa Bay. I didn’t say that about the Dallas game _ Tyron Smith clearly got the best of him. And without looking at the Philly film, I’d say that was somewhere in between.
    by jthomas 4:22 PM

Jim, I kind of feel like they have taken so many similar types of guys at the same positions like WR, RB, in trying to find the “right guys” Do you think they just have too many guys in the mix and are a bit confused on who to use, when to use them, and how to use them? There are no clear cut #1 guys.
    by Ramsfanwinorlose 4:25 PMPM

Yeah, there is no true No. 1 at receiver, but it looks like spreading the ball around is working out pretty well. There is kind of a sameness to the RBs, but the Rams have a lot of different types at WR _ big guys (Britt, Quick) smaller, speedier guys (Austin, Givens) and a couple of in between guys (Pettis/Bailey).
    by jthomas 4:30 PM

Hi Jim. I know the Rams once again are the “youngest” team in the NFL. But how much longer do we have to wait until the turn the corner? I’ve been a Rams fan since the early 70’s; this decade long stretch of futility is downright depressing… and I don’t have season tickets!
    by Vince Guldin 4:30 PMPM

This current regime pretty much indicated that this would be the breakthrough year.
    by jthomas 4:31 PM

Cook blew-up on the field on Sunday when a play didn’t get called in time. I know we owe him $$$$ but is he one or two more incidents away from following Armstrong out the door? Bad attitude.
    by Greg77 4:31 PMPM

He’s an emotional guy. But compared to say Dez Bryant, he’s a saint.
    by jthomas 4:32 PM

If Jake Long goes down, who’s the starting LT? Who comes off the bench?
    by bfulton 4:32 PMPM

I would think Saffold goes to left tackle, Greg Robinson goes to left guard.
