Rams LB Dunbar, NBA Player Green Arrested in Fla.
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Jul 20, 2014, 1:45 PM ET

Authorities say two professional athletes have been arrested after a fight outside a Miami Beach nightclub.

Miami Beach Police Detective Vivian Thayer says St. Louis Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar and NBA free agent Donte Green were arrested early Sunday outside Dream Nightclub in South Beach.

Thayer says the athletes got into a fight outside the club.

Additional details about the altercation were not immediately available. Thayer says no other arrests were made.

Thayer says Dunbar and Green each face charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

Miami-Dade County jail records did not show either man in custody Sunday afternoon. Details about the bonds they posted were not immediately available.

Not sure if you get suspended for something like that.

    Fined, maybe?

Or is that the wishful thinking talking?

Is this his first NFL offense?

Remember? He was suspended for 4 games last year. That was controlled substances.

Apparently, the testosterone/alcohol mix isn’t one of those controlled substances.

It will probably take two or three days until we really find out what happened. The charges could be dropped. They could be a misdemeanor, or it could even be criminal charges. We really don’t know much at this time. And who started the fight? Lots of questions. Very few answers. So any comments at this time would be speculative and very well could be an overreaction.

One would think ‘one’ of the assault/battery charges
will be dropped. I mean usually one guy starts it,
and one defends. (Unless they both agree do go outside
    and fight)

Usually the cops arrest both and then sort out who
    started it, later.

Doubt if it amounts to much. A 200 dollar fine, that sort of thing.
Dunno about the League penalty or the Fisher perspective though.

Its certainly disappointing that Dunbar once again
is in the news. I hope this is his last year in horns.

A blow-by-blow account of the Jo-Lonn Dunbar, Donte Green nightclub fight

    By Ryan Van Bibber

    http://www.turfshowtimes.com/2014/7/21/5923157/jo-lonn-dunbar-donte-green-nightclub-fight-police-report-mugshot

The Rams linebacker was arrested for his part in a nightclub fight over the weekend. What exactly happened though?

We now have a copy of the police report from the Miami nightclub fight that got St. Louis Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar arrested over the weekend.

940 WINZ has a copy of the police report. Here’s how the fight and arrest unfolded.

    Into the street

According to the reports Dunbar and Donte Green, the defendants, left the club exchanging verbals barbs, along with a few others. The incident report describes that exchange as “heated,” and security personnel were trying to keep them separated.

A few people involved started to walk away, while still trading insults. The rest of the people involved gave chase, and that’s when the brawl started.

    Tased in the ass

Dunbar and another male were fighting each other when Green approached Dunbar from behind. That’s when he and the Rams linebacker got entangled in their scrum. Green was punching Dunbar in the head and neck, according to the report. Police officers feared for Dunbar’s safety at that point, warning Green that he would be tased if he didn’t stop punching Dunbar.

He didn’t stop. The police office fired his taser for one 6-7 second burst. The prongs hit Green in his lower back and the other one in his right butt cheek.

    That ended the fight.

    An apology & explanation

Green claims that Dunbar was fighting his brother when he jumped into the fray. He said that Dunbar had been “after me for years since I got into the NBA.”

Dunbar apologized as soon as police cuffed him.

Dunbar tells police he was just defending himself

    By Jim Thomas

    http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football/professional/dunbar-tells-police-he-was-just-defending-himself/article_23bd5881-99d9-5745-ab1e-bda7e2773419.html

According to police reports on file with the Miami Beach (Fla.) police department, NBA player Donte Greene had to be restrained with a taser gun in an early-Sunday morning altercation with Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar outside a South Beach nightclub.

Contrary to earlier reports, Dunbar was arrested for disorderly conduct and breach of peace — a misdemeanor. He was not charged with battery as had been indicated earlier.

Greene, on the other hand, was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct and breach of peace. Greene’s brother Dmetrique also was involved in the altercation and was arrested for disorderly conduct and breach of peace.

Rams officials have declined comment at this time, but Dunbar — one of the team’s starting outside linebackers — is expected to be on the field Friday when the Rams hold their first full-squad practice of training camp.

According to the police reports, Dunbar told arresting officers he was just defending himself.

The arrest affidavits indicated that the defendants (Dunbar and the Greene brothers) were involved in a verbal altercation as they left the Club Dream. Club security and several patrons attempted to keep the parties from fighting by holding them apart.

But a short time later, the defendants starting brawling just south of the club entrance. As Dunbar and Dmetrique were exchanging punches, Donte approached Dunbar from behind and began to punch Dunbar in the head and neck area.

According to the police reports, one of the arresting officers said he was concerned about Dunbar’s safety, and gave Donte Greene “one last verbal warning” to stop. When that warning was unsuccessful, Donte Greene was tased for “approximately 6-7 seconds.”

After that, the fighting stopped. Donte Greene subsequently told police: “I’m sorry officer, but this guy (Dunbar) has been after me for years since I got into the NBA. He was beating my brother and I had to do what I did.”

Where and how Donte Greene and Dunbar may have had a history is uncertain. Greene attended Syracuse University and Dunbar is from Syracuse, N.Y., and both athletes entered the professional ranks in their respective sports following the 2007-08 school year, but Dunbar attended Boston College.

Neither of Dunbar’s agents responded to text messages and phone calls from the Post-Dispatch. Dunbar could not be reached.

This marks the second year in a row Dunbar has gotten off on the wrong foot prior to a football season. Last August, it was announced that Dunbar would be suspended by the NFL for four games for violating league policy on performance-enhancing substances. He could face league punishment for his role in Sunday’s nightclub altercation. Dunbar re-signed with the Rams during the offseason, but was expected to be pushed by Ray Ray Armstrong for a starting job this season.

Donte Greene, currently a free agent, played 253 games with the Sacramento Kings from 2008-2012.

This is good news because–for whatever reason–the defense sucked last year without Dunbar. He came back and BOOM. They were good.

That’s how I remember it and nothing will change my mind from remembering it that way.

So, hopefully he stays out of clubs for awhile and just sits at home and reads a good book and thinks about ripping Seahawks players to shreds.

Before the Seahawk game, we’ll start tweeting Dunbar that Greene’s a Seahawk fan, that he’s got Seahawk season tickets, that he has a Richard Sherman wig at home, that he has a Seahawk helmet phone, etc.

Get him worked up like Bobby Boucher…

I absolutely remember it the same way…totally agree.

Sounds like he got arrested for getting his ass kicked….not sure I like that much better.
