    Just getting to half time watching the posted game. NFL Channel sux.

    OK. We’re all reeling from yet another QB heartbreak. But, you know all would not necessarily be lost. Our WRs are definitely emerging, Hill looks solid, and, with a top notch defense, I could see us winning some damn games.

    Trouble is, our defense sux. OK, I guess that’s an overstatement. But watching the 1st half against a very mediocre CLE offense, I still saw little evidence of an emerging quality defense. A few individual plays by individual players. But we are STILL giving up way too much to RBs, we can’t stop bubble screens and quick passes, and a flock of dropped or missed passes kept us from giving up more damage.

    And this was a very mediocre offense we were facing.

    With Bradford, we could have built a good season on the offense. Without him, we need air tight defense. And we ain’t getting it.

    I imagine folks will say the usual things. But I ain’t buying. My heart is broken for Sam. But no one can do anything about injuries. I am more directly frustrated by a defense that is supposed to be stellar but is showing me nothing.

    Ugh. Gonna be another long year and we’ll be picking in the top 10 again.

    Let’s put some good spirits in this and wager.

    I wager they do better than picking in the top 10. Anywhere from 7-9 to 10-6, and not drafting in the top 10.

    The trick is what to wager. And remember, this is all in the spirit of fun. It’s 2 friends playing around, not 2 net strangers playing “no I’M RIGHT” games. Cause you know that I would be as disappointed as you in a bad season, and I know you would be as elated as I would be in a good one.

    What’s a good fun wager.

    Well, I dunno. I don’t ever want to wager against the Rams doing well. If I am wrong I will be delighted.

    I just see a lot of evidence of defensive problems. And I have yet to see even a series in which the defense makes a statement about who they are.

    We’ll see.

    I would have bet a homemade peach pie though.
