I’ve been resisting the assumption Trump will ever answer for anything since he was elected.
But…golly. He has committed multiple crimes. Does anybody think that there is actually Reasonable Doubt about that? I don’t.
And while I doubt he gets touched up on stuff like ordering Cohen and others to lie (Cohen said he communicated what he wanted without actually SAYING it, and that is probably enough for a rich and powerful man to get away with that), but…
I don’t see how he can feasibly escape obstruction of justice and campaign finance violations, and very probably tax fraud if what Cohen said is true. And misuse of his charity (which is probably under tax fraud).
I really don’t see how he escapes all of it. SDNY is completely armed should he get pardoned out of federal stuff.
There has been speculation that a president can’t be indicted, though the law doesn’t SAY that, and the issue has never been tested. But the way I see it, that’s not Mueller’s problem. His job is investigation and indictments, not convicting Trump. That isn’t his mandate. So why not just drop all the indictments in one fell swoop while turning in the report?
I don’t think the Supreme Court could save him. Could it? Especially if Mueller did it while they were in recess. Whether federal indictments actually stick or not, they could not keep him in office. And state charges would be waiting for him.
I mean…I don’t want to get ahead of myself, and I don’t want to be victim of wishful thinking, but one thing just keeps coming back to me: the dude IS guilty of multiple crimes. And so are his kids.
How can he escape this?
