Getting a 3 to 5 inch snowfall here in Connecticut today. Nice, light, fluffy snow (it is currently 20 Deg F and will stay well below freezing all day).

Don’t get me wrong; I don’t like shoveling it or driving in it, but it truly defines winter for me as it blankets the house and yard. And we can just stay in and enjoy it all weekend.

Days like today are a big reason why I’ll never leave the New England. I may move a bit farther north (VT, western MA or ME), but, for many reasons, New England will always be home.

I think southern NE has been getting more snow than northern NE the last few years. I live in Bennington, VT and the big storms have missed us for the most part. They’ve been tracking to the south and east of us. A year or so ago my friend who lives outside of Boston had 65″ of snow in his front yard at one point while I only had about 5″ in mine. The big storm from last week that was supposed to dump 12″ of snow here only left about 3″ and that melted away within a day or so. Right now there is an inch of snow from a light shower two nights ago and that’s about it.

I believe that was 2 years ago when Boston got nailed. My daughter’s freshman year at BU… I had to go there and get her computer over to a Best Buy in the middle of it all. 3 lane highways down to one lane, many streets impassible, it was quite the scene.

Sorry if my post read that I wanted to go farther north for more snow; I’m just going to have to leave where I am to retire, and if I’m going to stay in NE, I’ll have to go north.

Have 3 inches of snow here and you’re welcome to take all of it.

I’d rather enjoy winter in Ft. Myers.

No one is stopping you. Unless you are court ordered to remain where you are.

I am originally from Manitoba and coastal New England weather is not as bad as there, by a longshot.

Heck Chicago was worse than here when I lived there. Also by a longshot.

I like coastal NE. I like winter. I am never bothered by snow.

When I lived in good ole “72 degrees every day” San Diego, got so I was sick of it. I need seasons.

True, now I could live on the street in Ft. Myers but since I’m married and have kids and my home here paid for plus we’re looking forward to another 10 years of work here it will have to remain a goal for the future. But fear not the search for property and a rental agent still continues. If anyone has any advice on renting out a second home out of state through an agent I’d like to hear it, good or bad.

Not here. I’ve had enough of winter. I’d love to garden and fish all year long.
