    I copied and pasted this from a poster named by Indrid Cold from another Rams board.

    Convert Goff’s $21M roster bonus to signing bonus. Saves $16.8M on this year’s cap. (Puts $4.2M more on the next four years’ cap)

    Convert Higbee $6M roster bonus to signing bonus. Saves $4.5M on this year’s cap. (Puts $1.5M on the next three years’ cap)

    Convert $10M of Donald’s salary to signing bonus. Saves $8M on this year’s cap. (Puts $2M more on the next four years’ cap).

    If you believe Spotrac ($23.3M of space) vs. Overthecap ($14M), which I do…those moves would get us to $52.6M this year.

    (They could play with Gurley and Cooks contracts, too, but I wouldn’t risk adding future money on them.)

    Who is key free agents you feel Rams will resign and why ? Littleton to me is a must !

    I think the Rams will bring back Andrew Whitworth and Cory Littleton. Dante Fowler Jr. is going to command around $17 million per year on the market and probably price himself out of the Rams’ range.

    Austin Blythe should be back, too, and I think there’s enough of a mutual respect between the Rams and Michael Brockers to get a deal done at a reasonable cost.

    Overt at OverTheCap.com playing around with salary cap and some scenarios. Assuming Whitworth comes back at something close to $10M I have a pretty hard time seeing any of the three defensive starters (Littleton, Fowler, Brockers) returning.

    This is after:
    – restructuring Goff
    – extending AW for one year, $9.5M
    – extending Christian and Blythe for two years each
    – extending Zuerlein for one year
    – trading Havenstein and Everett
    – releasing Malcolm Brown
    – RFA tenders for Mundt, Fox and Deayon

    After these moves and with a rookie draft pool estimate of $4.4M they’d have roughly $14.5M left. Maybe Deayon and/or Fox are not tendered but that $2-4M tacked back on still won’t allow them to keep Littleton and sign a couple other bargain FAs. It could, though, let them sign a FA left guard in the $5-7M range and maybe an edge guy in that same range.

    Rich Hammond’s article on The Athletic really went into what McVay’s mindset seems to be, moving forward. When I read what McVay said, and look at the decisions McVay is making, it seems clear to me that McVay believes the biggest issues in 19 had to do with coaching. He’s not giving lip service when he says it’s on him and he’s moving to address those issues. That’s coming from his words AND his actions. He’s only spending a limited time at the combine and wants to work with coaches.

    This tells me a couple of things.

    -He’s developed a trust and communication level with Snead and the college scouting staff that he feels good trusting them with most of the lifting when it comes to the draft. He’ll, of course, be in on final decisions, but he trusts them to narrow the pool of candidates. Based on the success of the last few drafts, this makes sense to me.

    -He really believes that scheme issues played a huge factor in the Rams lack of success last year, both on offense and defense.

    -He really believes he needs to devote as much time as possible, right now, to evaluating the players *currently* on the roster with the coordinators and coaches to see what’s needed. He wants to really “be in touch” with everyone and everything going on.
