The famous dinosaurs that lived in western North America at the end of the “age of dinosaurs” like Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus may have ventured into eastern North America as well. During the late Cretaceous the eastern and western parts of North America were separated by a shallow inland sea. Towards the end the sea began to drain away as the Rockies continued to rise. It had long been speculated that the western dinosaurs could have traveled to the eastern US before the extinction event wiped them out. Now we have our first evidence that this happened.
