The thing about history iz….there’s way too much of it.

I was lookin up the origin of the recipe-name ‘General Tso’s Chicken.’    I wondered who the hell ‘General Tso was, and why he had a chicken recipe named after him.

(Turns out, he never had anything to do with the recipe…)

But, anyway, my search bounced around and landed on the ‘Dungan Revolt’,

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungan_Revolt_(1862%E2%80%931877)

    where i read this:

“…The conflict began with riots by the Hui and massacres of the Han Chinese, followed by the revenge massacres of the Hui by the Han.[2] It resulted in massive demographic shifts in Northwest China, and led to a population loss of 21 million people from a combination of massacres, migration, famine, and corpse-transmitted plague.[3] …”

21 million people.  Thats a shitload of people.  One would think an educated-Amerikan such as myself, would have heard of somethin like that.

I’ve been following these lectures on youtube. They are not cutting edge, just a well-done summary of the basics. Which I knew absolutely nothing about.

Revolutions Podcast by Mike Duncan – S4: Haitian Revolution – Episode 1

Revolutions Podcast by Mike Duncan – S5: Simón Bolívar – Episode 1

This is a pure filler post meant to stabilize a thread that the anti-spam system is fucking around with.

I have been listening to the “Fall of Civilizations” podcase on Spotify. Very interesting. Each episode is on a different empire, and there are some EMPIRES I’ve never heard of. I just finished the Aztecs this morning. Most episodes are about 2 hours long.

The next episode just happens to be “Han Dynasty.”

Yeah, and there are some Empires that should have been,

but never were.   Like the GSOT.
