Love Wins! A Celebration Music to benefit The Ana Grace Project and the Ana Márquez – Greene scholarship at WCSU featuring Regina Carter on violin; Christian Sands on piano; Russell Malone on guitar; Ben Allison on bass; Alvester Garnett on drums and WCSU Coordinator of Jazz Studies Jimmy Greene on saxophone. This event is being hosted by the WCSU Department of Music.

Jimmy Greene is the man. He lost his daughter at Sandy Hook, but has stayed a very active and passionate part of our community. My son has benefited from Jimmy’s love of Jazz and willingness to tutor the Newtown High kids. Looking forward to the show.

What a great event! Some truly great jazz musicians on hand. You could just see the respect they had for each other and especially for Jimmy.
We also got an update from Jimmy’s wife on the Ana Grace Project, which, true to the motto “Love Wins”, help schools teach children empathy.
Several other parents and siblings of the shooting victims were also there, and the ones who also have foundations got shout outs.
All in all, awesome night, me, my wife and son were all blown away by the music and the message.

    A night well spent.

Today is the 15th anniversary of my daughter’s death. A lot of people on this board were posting together when that happened. 15 years ago. Wow.

I always take the day off work, and my family and I go and get our Christmas tree today.

It’s good to do things to honor the memory.

    Just keep going, buddy.

    Zooey.

Thank you for your words of encouragement, especially on this, the darkest of days for you. I am so sorry for your loss.

I’ll keep going if you do.

    Be well, my friend.
