What people do know is that Alan Page was one of the great NFL players of all time. Played for 15 years and got (an unofficial record of) 148.5 sacks. He’s on the short list of elite DTs in NFL history, a list that includes players like Bob Lilly, Merlin Olsen, and Randy White. Oh and Aaron Donald.
Vikings took Page with the 15th pick in the 1967 draft.
Now here’s what you didn’t know. Minnesota got that pick in a trade with the Rams. A George Allen trade for a couple of inconsequential players.
Rams could have drafted Page if not for that trade.
That would mean that in 1970 their DL would have been Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, Alan Page, and Coy Bacon.
Alan Page is actually one of my favorite non-Rams from football history.
