Those long pass completions they allow. I would say that allowing those seems to be a bad tactic all the way around. Not a good plan. The better plan would be to NOT ALLOW them.

Allowing Wells to snap the ball apparently wasn’t very good strategy, either.

If Scott Wells is the best you have at center–you have NO center.

Trumaine Johnson—someone forgot to wake him up and tell him there was a football game today.

The Rams defense—–if someone can find them please return them to St. Louis.

UFC influence, Greg Williams influence? What was it today that had the Rams players more interested in fighting than in playing football? Did Williams put something in their heads about Beckham? Did he get them so worked up they couldn’t see straight? They played angry–not smart. Not smart at all.

If the Rams are trying to preserve or improve draft position today was a big win.

Offensive line—why so much confusion? Was 10 days too much to prepare?

    Oh well–and so it goes.

Onto next week, I can see another Brawl Game in that one.

At least Beckham won’t be playing.

See–you waited so long to post this thread that I started a rambling thoughts thread to discuss my game thoughts.

Kinda pulled a Scott Wells there, didn’t ya, zn?

Snapped the thread right over my head. 🙂

McClain coming off field: ” That dirty —- don’t make you tough! G– damn that’s a dirty-a– team!”

ARE the Rams a dirty team?

    Is that what they’ve become?

Or is that unfair and just a reputation because of Greg Williams?

    Any thoughts?

Just listening Fisher’s post game the man is in denial . He’s lost. The D was upset because Beckham said he was going to set a record against the Rams today (which is exactly what he did) Fisher kept saying you can’t do this or that and win.He has to be told he cannot bring that clusterfuck we saw out there today to another game. Coach do your fucking job or go the fuck away.

    6 and 9, staring at 6 and 10.

Just an awful performance from start
    to finish.

The D had no answer for Rueben Randle or OB.
    Eli just picked them apart,
as per usual. (in four games 12 TDs, 1 INT)

This D can be sensational, but it can also
be “unsound”. I dont know what other word to use.
It can be real flashy, but I’m not sure it
can really be “reliable” over the long haul.

The O obviously needs better players at QB
    G and Center.

For me, this was Fisher’s worse loss
in his three years. This was bad.
Year three, at home, against a 5 win team,
with a chance to finish .500 — to be that
undisciplined. To get picked apart like that.
Geez. Bad, bad loss. Itz not the end of the world,
but THAT was the epitome of “Bad bad Loss.”
I shall…sit with it. And then I will
    eat hummus and deep-fried pickles.

    G and Center.

Hill was 24 of 32 with a qb rating of 110+ and 2 TDs. You’re supposed to win when you get 27 points.

IMO…this was all on the defense.

And to be honest, the pass defense was their weakness all year. A few teams managed to exploit it.

The OL has gotten steadily worse so we agree on that. Saffold and Long being hurt means that Saffold plays hurt, Joseph has to start, and Robinson becomes a rookie LOT. And Wells has become a liability. I think they could get away with one or 2 of those things, but not all of them.

    As for this–>

    against a 5 win team,
with a chance to finish .500

A lot of people failed to see how good the Giants became during the year. They were under-estimated. That’s the old Eli, the OL is finally repaired and playing well, and teams have no answer for Beckham. It’s not the least bit unusual for the Giants to surge at the end of the year. Heck that’s how they became a 9-7 superbowl winner.

Here’s what I said in the “thotz about the game the week before the game” thread:

The more I look into the Giants, the more I think this is an interesting test for the defense. They can throw and they can pass block.

It’s also a test for the OL. The Giants can rush the passer, too. So was looking THAT BAD against ARz just one particularly bad game (short week with banged up starters + a rookie) or is the OL really as consistently bad as it was in that one game.

I know we all get into post-loss funks. But name one single coach who ever said what angry fans demanded they say after a loss. The real talk is behind closed doors. You not liking the public version of what he says does not mean he is in denial, it just means you personally are frustrated.

What happened on the Odell 80 yarder? I saw it,
but I dunno what the DB’s were doing. They
just sorta went “Olay” and let him run
right down the middle by himself.

Barron got faked out on a double move. It was really just that simple.

But then Barron was playing in that position because the Rams were short on CBs.

Not sure how anyone else feels, but I wanted to win these two games, not to have another losing season. I feel frustrated. It does not look like we have improved at all. Call it players, execution, coaching, etc. It feels like, as fans, we just can’t get over that hump. When it looks bright, at the end of the tunnel, we seem to hit a detour, or at least it feels that way to me. Again, not sure how any of you feel, but it is frustrating. I am always going to be a Rams fan no matter what, but this is the life of us Ram fans for the past 24 years, and we need to catch a break, like the 1999-2000 season.

rams should be better than their 6-9 record. simple as that. three years. and they’re still inconsistent. they make dumb mistakes. does it all come down to one loss? no. but where the rams should be getting better, they’re still as up and down as ever.

it’s not just the loss today. it’s the loss today in the context of this entire season. or rather the past three years.

He needs to take responsibility for his mistakes namely for this undisciplined mess being unprepared to win after 10 days off against a team with less talent. Off the top of my head Mora,Parcells even Martz would own up to his mistakes but not Fisher. No we get stuff like “Well I sure didn’t expect that out of them” Coaches are part of the team but Fisher continually separates himself from any accountability .He’s had 3 years and made millions at this point it is unacceptable to “think” his team is prepared he has to know it.

Assuming your explanation of why they lost is the actual explanation
that is, what a veteran coach would see when he goes over film
how do you know what he does behind closed doors? When it counts?

I cannot think of a single coach who has ever spoken in a way you are suggesting he should (assuming, again, that your analysis of what happened is the correct one). You forget–press conferences are not confessionals with angry fans as the inquisitors. They are staged events the coach uses the way he feels he needs to in order to keep the real issues behind closed doors.

And they sure as heck don’t say much until they have reviewed the film.

As angry as we are personally, coaches never act like we are the final judges. I don’t think you can actually BE a coach and think that way.

Unless you can think of examples of coaches who did act that way
that is, that they owe humble self-confession to angry fans after a bad loss before they have even seen the film.

But. No point in arguing. We’re both pizzed off, we just express it differently. So feel free to have your say…we all have that right. s

Yeah we really respected Mora for that.

In fact that vid became famous as the very model of honest coaching self-appraisal in front of the press.

Not, as some assume, the butt of endless jokes. s

I don’t understand this zn , my analysis ? Did I read the score in the wrong direction? Mora was a perfect example Fisher should be completely embarrassed and I have no respect for him and his endless excuses. At least I could respect Mora for being honest and facing the facts.

    Good, Bad, Ugly.

    =====================================
    Alyoshamucci

So, I have a moment to talk about the last couple games, and that’s about it. I know there are many who read these and get a lot out of them, so I’ll say this up front, and be moving on . .

“The team this year has no starting QB, and any team that does not have a starting QB has no real shot. Fisher gets 5 years from me. Continuity is the only thing that can save us, the WORST franchise besides the Raiders.”

We’ve seen how well we can play, and had a few games gone a little different we’d be in the hunt, even with backup QBs.

    The Good

    1) Gaines is okay (not injured). He has done a better job than I could have ever imagined, and he is playing the “straight man” opposite Jenkins. Also, he doesn’t seem to have any injury or mental awareness issues. Tru may be expendable, which means someone will pay handsomely for him and we’ll net a compensatory pick.

    2) Aaron Donald should be in the pro bowl. What a great pick.

    3) Robinson seems to be getting more comfortable, and showing off some of the freakish athleticism that we expect.

    4) Kenny Britt has earned a paycheck from us. His aggression and leadership are priceless, and beyond that he makes tough catches.

    5) Our team has an attitude. I like that.

    6) Austin is becoming more of a factor. At least he hasn’t maxed out his usefulness.

    7) mason’s TD was fierce. Facemasked and STILL made the pylon.

    The bad

    8) I did not like the let-down against the Giants. The Cards was depressing too, though we were inches away from that one (Jenks pick, Bailey’s drop, ouch). I REALLY did not like Shaun Hill’s performance in either game. That changes my draft, because apparently we need a better backup than we have.

    9) Our interior line is not acceptable.

    10) There was a lack of imagination on defense against the Giants, and the inability to cover the most explosive player in the NFL over the last two weeks confuses me. Why didn’t we adjust the coverage?

    11) No defensive line sacks. Its like they can hear it when they are being praised and play at half speed.

    12) Stedman has to know he’s hot and be ready, even for a questionably thrown pass.

    13) How many of Sims’ penalties for roughing were real? This is a question. I remember three out of the 5 mentioned and they were barely calls or bad calls.

    14) The commentators need to stay off the “moving to LA” thing for one . . darn . . game.

    15) Throw the ball to Stedman more.

    The Ugly

    16) Frustrated fans. I don’t get it. We like the worst team in the NFL, we’re accountable for making the best of it, just like anything else in our lives.

Draft. So the play of Hill the past few games means we cant make the playoffs with him even if he is surrounded by talent. That changes my draft board.

    1) Trade down and pick up a 4th . . draft Scherff at 15 to play OG. (There is a chance I take Arik Armstead here if Fish okays his personality)
    2-8) Shane Carden
    3) Gallek OC BC
    4) Stephon Anthony MLB/OLB Clemson
    5) Zegarrette Davis DE Kentucky Freak at 6-6 275 plays inside and out, but on Kentucky in a great class where he’ll be overshadowed.
    6) Jeff Prater WR Northwestern 6-5 222 USC transfer with hands and physical ability
    7) Gabe Wright DT Auburn

UDFA Uzomah TE Auburn 6-5 268.

So the play of Hill the past few games means we cant make the playoffs with him even if he is surrounded by talent.

I think that’s harsh. I think there’s a “win ugly” factor with Hill, but if the defense showed up against the Giants, he played well enough to win.

I think some fans get “trauma fixation.” They see a bad play, and it becomes a black hole sucking in every other thought. I too was disappointed when Hill missed long throws. But he made enough throws to win. That scoring drive that got them to 20 points was Hill in rhythm.

This team is supposed to play defense. It’s not supposed to be the Broncos.
