    EARLY MAY

MID-JUNE (most of my garden is really a mid-summer/autumn garden, so right now mostly I have just green. Or, greens.)

    Very nice.

What is the significance of those globes, btw? I assume they are merely ornamental? Or do they mark the families to be spared when the aliens come?…

Uh…yeah. They’re ornamental. That’s it. Purely ornamental. Nothing but ornaments. From France.

Impressive transformation from May to June. Also, an impressive display of firewood both in volume and organization.

Very nice. I know my wife would have loved to have walked through your garden while we were in Maine.
I’ll have to figure out a way to post photos from my wife’s garden.
She’s been working on perfecting it the last 13 years, so it’s pretty impressive, I think.

NM, I tried to fix your pics and I see you did too.

Email me links and I will use super-edit to fix it all.

OR load them off your computer through this site, and then if you click “copy image address” you can post that here (ie. “that” being the address of the pics you get from using the site):

Thanks, zn, but as a newbie, looks like I still messed up the photos–too small and 2 are on their side.

For future reference, if you use the site I refer to (postimage.org) it allows you to control the size.

But I can still nevertheless see that that’s very advanced, very gorgeous work, those gardens.

    My wife says “thank you”.
I must add that I did do a lot of the digging, leveling, and laying of the paver stones. It took 6 months to do that.

You did a lot of work then and it has to be exact. So good job and you and your wife did well.

I don’t know if you can tell from my gardens, but the biggest one follows a tree line (pics 1, 6, & 7 above) (more than 50 feet for sure though I have not measured it). It’s not formal. It;s just edged with rocks and stones, and at the back of the garden are shrubs, and then shrubs are behind the garden too, and that all just blends in with the treeline.

But it is very nice. We enjoyed your photos.
That’s the difference with Maine and New Mexico. All plants need water and to make ours grow, we can’t wait on just the July rains, we have to irrigate. And that means localized distinct areas of plants, not spread out.

Very nice work and I love raised beds. Best way to garden.

I do not like Astilbes. I just want you to know that.

Now i dont want any trouble. I mean the last thing we need
is another deadly, rancorous, malignant Asbilbe thread.

But i do not like them.

I dont think the Comanches liked them either.

Nice pics. Everything in our yard got sun baked and eaten the past month.

Very nice work on the gardens. I am jealous. Just moved to a new home, and I’m just trying to get this place presentable before moving on to gardening. When I do, I will try to remember to post some photos … I’ll be lucky if I can start next spring.

Last time you posted about the house, it was somewhere in Tom Hanks, The Money Pit territory.

I hope you have made good progress! (Oh, and, be sure and read the board on the 9th.)

Very nice. Those flowers (lilies?) have come and gone here for 6 weeks or so. We have one that is now out but in almost full shade. I hope to post my pics soon though they were taken when you asked. What are you going to grow that shows up in October? You seem to be running late way up there.

Gardens are great! Yours looks beautiful. Barbara has created this vegetable garden along the side yard that is truly amazing. We have tomatoes, onions, green beans, artichokes, Kale, lettuce, peppers and chilies, plus most spices you can buy in a store. Because of our drought she has manufactured this elaborate system that actually waters the vegetable garden and our flowers with eco friendly non phosphate water from the washing machine. (you can get non phosphate detergent from Cosco) It required her to drill a hole in the side wall, run a hose from the washing machine into a large container on wheels outside. She then wheels it around and using a marine pump waters everything outside including our lawns. She does all this while I watch tv.

Someone has to watch to see if the TV tries to run away.

    Wise words.

Waterfield: good story about the garden.

I live in Maine. My plan for watering the garden? Plant it outside, where it rains.
