    Bridgeport pie company keeps history alive

    What a hoot. I just found out that a high school buddy of mine has purchased the naming and distribution rights to the Frisbie Pie Company (defunct since the 1950’s) and has rebooted the company with a retro 1935 delivery truck and all.

    Legend has it that Hasbro called their flying disc the “Frisbee” to avoid copyright infringement with Frisbie Pies.

    Dan and I started playing Ultimate Frisbee (back then it was called Frisbee Football) on my dead end street, telephone pole to telephone pole back in 1980. He just ran with it and has been involved in Ultimate Frisbee ever since.

    I guess he’s just following his Frisbie dream…
