I saw “Experimenter” on dvd the other day.
(thats the guy who did the obedience experiments
we’ve discussed a few times)
There’s a memorable scene or two, but even
though the subject matter interests me a lot,
and the movie was well-acted…i just dont
think it was a particularly good movie.
I just didnt think Stanley Milgram’s LIFE
was interesting. His experiments were interesting.
But not his life-story. There just wasn’t anything
particularly interesting about his marriage
or academic career etc.
I do think the director was creative with
the way the movie handles the boring nature
of Milgrim’s life — they did a lot of cutesy
things to pep the movie up — but in the end
It wasnt all that interesting.
Friend of mine, said radiolab had a segment
on the Milgram experiment that looked
at what the subjects actually said about
what happened and it lead to some
folks drawing different conclusions
than Milgram drew….i aint listened yet http://www.radiolab.org/story/180092-the-bad-show/
