Good video. Engel has to go. Terrible rep.

To me, this is the way leftists can make the most effective impact/change right now, given the stranglehold of the two parties. Change the Dems, radically. Primary moderates, centrists and conservadems. In so-called safe seats, liberals too. Pull the party waaay left. I don’t think they should ever help Republicans win in the process. So this needs to be done strategically to the extent possible. But I’m also of the belief that if leftists put up candidates who can really connect with voters, they can win anywhere, even in the reddest places. If the candidate has “it,” they can basically go after any Dem, anywhere, cuz they can defeat Republicans in the general too. And they should.

Longterm, I’d love to see leftists run and win without the Dem Party label, and they can in isolated places even now. Build up the critical mass capable to oppose both the Dems and the GOP over time — from the bottom up. But until that’s possible, IMO, they should try to pull the Dems leftward and avoid helping the GOP in the process. Avoid that like the plague.

Ideally, America would have all kinds of truly lefty parties and independent individuals . . . going up against the Dems, who would then be the “conservative” party. I think the GOP should just die, cuz it’s basically the fascist/lunatic wing now. The true “conservative” party is the Dems.

In a democracy, we should have a real choice between the left, right and center. We don’t. It’s basically between the center-right and the further and further right.

He’s a member of AIPAC, he could always find work there. Then again, maybe something for the Police.

“…Rep. Eliot Engel became engulfed in yet another controversy on Tuesday after he was overheard on a “hot mic” saying he only sought press attention at a local event on the unrest over police brutality because of his upcoming primary threat.

“If I didn’t have a primary, I wouldn’t care,” the New York Democrat told Ruben Diaz Jr., the Bronx borough president, as he asked for time to speak at a news conference on local vandalism….”

Booker edges ahead of McGrath in too-close-to-call Kentucky Senate Democratic primary
The winner will go up against Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in November

Kentucky state Rep. Charles Booker has edged ahead of Amy McGrath, a retired Marine lieutenant colonel, in the state’s U.S. Senate Democratic primary race to determine who takes on Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in November.

With 12 percent of the state’s precincts reporting, Booker, whose candidacy has received the support of progressive lawmakers and groups around the country, led McGrath 44.4 percent to 40.4 percent, or by just over 2,700 votes, according to NBC News.

The race remains too close to call, NBC News projects.

The current tally includes only votes cast in person at the polls on Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots that will likely determine the outcome of the race have not yet been counted and will not be for days…see link

I looked into Booker a bit, and even made a modest contribution to his “bus people to the polls” campaign. He’s interesting I think.

if you’re in michigan and 18+ pls for the love of god do not vote for my dad for state rep. tell everyone

When asked what he thinks could have prompted his daughter to ask people not to vote for him, Regan said “her big thing has to do with the systemic racism that’s going on in the country.”

“She’s a big believer in that,” he continued, while adding, “The only place where I really see systemic racism would be the abortion clinic cause they seem to target the African American community.”

“I don’t buy into this whole systemic racism thing at all,” he later said.

“I’m not saying there’s not hurdles to overcome. We all have hurdles to overcome. You know, as a quote-unquote rich, white, Christian male, people look at me a certain way. And it’s not always good. So, everybody has obstacles to overcome,” he also said, while adding he thinks President Trump has “done more for the black community than any president we’ve had in the last 20 years.”

News as of a couple of minutes ago has Booker leading. Plus there are a lot of mail-ins so not sure they can call it yet.

With about 13 percent of the expected vote counted, Charles Booker (D) is leading; 13.3 percent of precincts are reporting.
