Think about how HARD that guy is playing for a relatively (in football terms) small amount of money.

He’s been criticized for being a bit of a punk, and for not honoring his contract, etc — but all i know is the guy plays hard every single solitary snap. Come hell or high water. And he studies when he’s OFF the field. And he did all that at Pitt.

I’m not even talking about his Talent — I’m talkin about how HARD he PLAYS every single snap. I’m not sure if Sapp ever took downs off, but I know Donald doesnt. Merlin didnt either.

Donald is different than Merlin. Donald is more like Deacon. A Deacon Jones at DT.
Merlin was simply unmovable. No-one ever ran on Merlin. He was a wall. Most consistently excellent and durable Ram player in history. Donald is more like Deacon. A slasher, a chaos-player. He may run himself out of a play now and then, unlike Merlin, but he is demonic. He’s Grendel.

    Resign the beast.

Yes. I think some folks “dont think a DT is worth it” but I dont even think of AD as a DT. He’s a Category-Five Storm. Ya know.

It dont matter what position he plays.

The Rams offense aint the reason they been winning lately.

I agree with you about his overall value just as a top defender.

But I also think elite DTs ARE worth it too.

    Not saying you disagree.

Elite DTs are rare and there are very good, sound, basic football reasons why they are very good for your defense. Better than having 2 other good players at different positions.

I dunno about DT’s in general, but i know any player that can cause a QB and an Offensive Coordinator to totally adjust their gameplan, is worth Paying.

Wade Philips is worth paying, too.

Btw, there shouldnt be any London games, and there shouldnt be any Thursday games, and there shouldnt be more than two preseason games, and there shouldnt be any fucking Bye weeks. There. Make it so.

Oh, and the Chargers should be in San Diego. And the flat State of Ohio does not need two football teams. Move Cincy to St.Louis.

Not DTs in general. Elite DTs. Which are rare. Elite DTs are more rare than elite qbs.

I define an elite DT this way. As a rule no offense can function if someone who starts that close to the ball is disruptive. So a good DT automatically attracts special attention. He’s part of a numbers game–he draws attention, others on the D benefit.

But that’s not an elite DT yet.

An elite DT is a guy who draws that kind of gameplan level attention…AND makes plays anyway.

gotta re-sign donald. never really cared that he sat out training camp myself. if anything i put the onus on the rams to get donald under contract. donald can do whatever he wants. he doesn’t owe anyone anything. he’s proven the type of player he is.
