I’m not doing the Sunday Ticket for the first time in many a year. Couldn’t get it for free, so I’m gonna cut the cord.
Thinking of trying Game Pass. Sounds like a pretty good deal at $75. But it also sounds like I’d have to watch the games on my phone or computer. Want to be able to see them on the TV. When I duckduckgo the topic, I find articles that say apps work for Samsung and LG TVs, but I can’t find the app for mine.
What do you think of the service overall? Any help with the app stuff is welcome as well.
October 17, 2019 at 7:00 pm #106854znModeratorI’m a sorta now-n-then user of Game Pass. I know of no way to get it on tv. Has to be the computer or phone, near as I know.
October 17, 2019 at 9:57 pm #106863ZooeyModeratorWhen I don’t get the Rams over the free airwaves, I go to “Reddit NFL stream.”
I have used a number of sites over the years. The quality has been sketchy. The reddit streams are typically high quality, and don’t lag. For the most part. I use a hdmi to connect to my tv.
The stream is a couple of plays behind Live, but…you know…it’s free.

Info on how to get that stuff is always posted in the game day “chat room access” thread. Here’s a link to the last one. Ag and Zooey always access this stuff jist fine.

October 17, 2019 at 10:40 pm #106865Billy_TParticipantThanks, ZN and Zooey.
As an old Internet tech, though, I’m a bit leery when it comes to trusting “free” Internet links for sports and such. Good way to get viruses.
Have you guys had any issues with that? Is there a critical mass of reliably clean sites, with solid histories, etc.?
(I’m fine with the lag stuff. My only concern would be safety.)

I have a digital antenna and fairly fast internet but no cable and no dish. Also have Sunday Ticket’s streaming service but they won’t let you do that if you can have dish. Game Pass on the Fire tv is way better than on my pc.(Ancient pc newer tv) . You can also cast from your phone to Tv.

Is that a subscription? What’s it cost to set this up? Are the games Live, or released later?
I seem to recall having Game Pass long, long ago, and watching the games on Monday. But I don’t have to settle for that now, so I don’t do it.
I would pay to watch the games if it was a “reasonable” amount, but I’m not paying whatever it is to have a dish – $60/month or ? – and then another fee on top of that for Ticket when I don’t watch TV much apart from football.

Zooey,
From what I understand, Game Pass is $75 total, and the games are viewable right after they end in real time. So it’s same day . . . You don’t have to wait until Monday.
. . .
I’ve had Directv for a long time, and consistently managed to get the Sunday Ticket for free — until this year. Normally, it’s more than $300. I’d even get discounts on the rest of the TV package. Don’t know if you saw it, but the Herd used to have an hysterical yearly thread . . . usually led by James JM, detailing how he could never get those freebies, while other posters talked about Directv giving them new cars, houses, vacations, along with the Sunday Ticket.
;>)
Anyway, since AT&T took over, it’s been tougher. But I did get it for free last season, plus a $50 discount overall. The best offer this season was two months of credit for the Ticket only, and my other discounts expire in December. So I said no. Leave the service on hold (since June now). I’ll probably cancel it before year’s end.
Game Pass seems to be the next best option to watching it “live.”
October 20, 2019 at 8:50 am #106959Eternal RamnationParticipantAnother benefit of Game Pass is you can listen to games live. Before I had Sunday Ticket available I would find a link to watch the game on the net and play the live audio on my phone to fill in the blanks.Nice to be able to listen to the Rams JB Long as opposed to the network guys, and it’s mobile so if you have to pick the best wife in the world up during the 3rd quarter like I do for early games you can still follow the game. And yes the full game is available minutes after it’s over. The condensed version and coaches view take a day or so. Side note the full game is sans commercials so the whole thing is only a little over an hour. I rarely even watch the condensed version anymore.

Thanks for pitching in here ER. It’s appreciated.
October 21, 2019 at 11:31 am #107080joemadParticipanti had Sunday Tix from 1997 through 2015… i switched to Gamepass in 2016.
Early technology with Gamepass (GP) sucked, but it has vastly improved the past 3 seasons. I send feedback to GP several times per season and they respond very well.
It was a tough adjustment at first to not having Sunday Tix, but I’m no longer tied to the TV to watch football games on Sundays… I can go out fishing or watch the kids play ball while listening to the Rams game live on audio via GP…. yesterday i heard the 2nd qtr using the Falcons broadcast radio feed via GP
you can also mirror your smart phone or tablet to watch on your smart TV or get an old Apple TV unit (usually $40 on craigs) to leverage the NFL app with Gamepass on Apple TV
BTW, check out the Dofu Sports app as another alternative to Reddit or other stream sites.
