Wells Report — Patriots, Tom Brady Cheated … In Deflategate
Read more: http://www.tmz.com/2015/05/06/wells-report-patriots-cheated-in-deflategate/#ixzz3ZOEChlfb
Tom Brady consciously cheated in the AFC Championship “Deflategate” game … the game before the Super Bowl … so says the guy charged with investigating the scandal.
The NFL just released the results of Ted Wells’ investigation into Deflategate … which says it is “more probable than not that New England Patriots personnel participated in violations of the NFL Playing Rules and were involved in a deliberate attempt to circumvent those rules.”
The report also says, “We also have concluded that it is more probable than not that Tom Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of [the locker room attendants] involving the release of air from Patriots game balls.”
The report says … when people began to get suspicious about the balls, the locker room guys began communicating with Brady by phone and text messages with “significantly increased frequency.”
Investigators also say the men who deflated the footballs “received valuable items autographed by Tom Brady the week before the AFC Champsionship game.”
As for Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick … Wells says the investigation shows there was NO evidence to support theories that they were involved in Deflategate.
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft issued a statement saying, “To say we are disappointed in its findings, which do not include any incontrovertible or hard evidence of deliberate deflation of footballs at the AFC Championship game, would be a gross understatement.”
Kraft added, “We will accept the findings of the report and take the appropriate actions based on those findings as well as any discipline levied by the league.”

Report: NFL could punish Brady, ball boys in wake of reportBy Darren Hartwell
http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/report-nfl-could-punish-brady-ball-boys-in-wake-of-report-050615
The Ted Wells report into DeflateGate could result in punishment for the New England Patriots and possibly quarterback Tom Brady.
But that’s not all.
After Wells’ report was released Wednesday, the NFL is considering discipline for Brady, locker room attendant Jim McNally and equipment assistant John Jastremski, a source close to the investigation told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
McNally and Jastremski both play prominent roles in the 243-page report, particularly in several conversations with each other via text message. Their texts make numerous references to Brady and the air pressure of footballs, including one text from McNally to Jastremski that read, “Tom sucks… (I’m) going to make that next ball a f***** balloon.”
Wells’ lengthy report found that it was “more probable than not” that Patriots personnel members deliberately tried to “circumvent the rules,” and that Brady “was at least generally aware” of these activities.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement Wednesday stating that all possible disciplinary action will be handled by NFL vice president of football operations Troy Vincent.
“As with other recent matters involving violations of competitive rules,” the statement read, “Troy Vincent and his team will consider what steps to take in light of the report, both with respect to possible disciplinary action and to any changes in protocols that are necessary to avoid future incidents of this type. At the same time, we will continue our efforts vigorously to protect the integrity of the game and promote fair play at all times.”
May 6, 2015 at 4:12 pm #24198wvParticipantWhy is Goodell dumping the disciplinary aspect
onto the vice president, Troy Vincent ?What in the world should the League do about this?
I have no clue. I mean deflating balls is a clear violation,
but it also kinda feels…oh…somewhat ridiculous and ticky-tacky.w

vI don’t feel like it’s ticky-tacky. Sometimes, tiny advantages can have monumental outcomes. They are too easily dismissed with the notion “it wouldn’t have mattered anyway”, but nobody really knows that.
If this were the olympics, they’d take the gold medal away.
If it were college, they’d take away the national title. This is the NFL, so a slap on the wrist, if that. At least they didn’t destroy the evidence this time.May 6, 2015 at 5:27 pm #24206joemadParticipantlittle things make big things happen……..
deflating a ball by 20% in air volume is not ticky tacky, it’s a clear advantage.

So what should Troy Vincent do about it?
And keep in mind, the investigator said

proof-positive. Ya know.Thoze Patriots are Krafty devils.

vIt’s a huge advantage. Look at how few fumbles the Patriots RBs have compared to the rest of the NFL. Much better grip on an under inflated ball. Brady says he likes throwing the under inflated ball too.
Brady should be suspended without pay for the entire season. Draft picks for 2016 should be forfeited. An asterisk should accompany their Super Bowl win last season.
Goodell passed it on to Vincent because he is too closely associated with Patriots ownership.
The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

May 6, 2015 at 6:59 pm #24212MackeyserModeratorUnderstand… just for sending a text to the sideline, people have been suspended a number of games.
If Brady isn’t suspended at least 6 games due to this, the league has no compass.
This wasn’t a rule misunderstanding. He violated the integrity of the game.
In Baseball, if a pitcher changes the ball via scuffing or applying a substance, he’s not only ejected, but can be suspended and banned.
Would the Pats have won if they had these results at halftime of the AFC Championship game and ejected Brady like in a baseball game? Likely not…

May 6, 2015 at 7:33 pm #24215DakParticipantAt the least, Brady should be suspended for several games. They sure waited a long time to report the findings. I’m thinking they were waiting for just the right time … long enough after the Super Bowl for most people to not care anymore, but not TOO long after. And, definitely not before the Draft, where Goodell might have to deal with, gasp, questions and public criticism!

Well, it raises lots of rather fundamental
questions — like, just what is in the best interest of pro football? Is it in the best interest of the league to suspend its biggest stars?
Arent the stars the ones that make the game so popular and bring in
all the gazillions of dollars… or is the game bigger than the stars?w
vMay 6, 2015 at 10:26 pm #24224InvaderRamModeratorit depends on the fans. it depends on if the fans care enough. my guess is the nfl will be able to sweep this under the rug.
if the fans announce their displeasure though. the league will do something about it.

OK. I’ll start.
Strip them of their title.
Furthermore, strip them of their whole friggin rule bending dynasty.
Suspend Brady.
Make them move to Canada.
Make Kraft give up his ownership, and get him involved as a Pee Wee apprentice.
That’s for starters. I’m sure I’ll think of more later.

vProbably b/c he is a giant ASS and realizes his ASSNESS would be a public relations nightmare.
May 7, 2015 at 6:18 pm #24272snowmanParticipantI listened to Pat Kirwin and his sidekick on Sirius NFL radio this afternoon and they both damn near demanded that the NFL apologize to Brady and the patriots organization for wasting their time by investigating this issue. Made me sick, what a couple of Brady-sniffers.
May 8, 2015 at 3:21 pm #24306joemadParticipantStars that are stars because of cheating.
I’d be pissed if I was Joe Flacco and the Ravens….forget about the Championship game, but the divisional game when you lose a game that close, a ball 20% reduced in size makes a huge difference.
Imagine a pitcher throwing a ball 20% smaller or a basketball team using a ball 20% smaller HUGE ADVANTAGE.
Folks need to remember, the reason Brady is a star is because of his Super Bowl victories, 3 victories at the aid of Spy Gate in games decided by 3 points. I’ve stated this dozens of times, it only takes 1 3rd down stop to win a game by 3 points……and when you know the plays being called because of SpyGate it’s a huge advantage….
Now games decided by using a ball 20% smaller in size.
This guy should not have gotten past the Tuck Rule in 2001, but clearly cheating has made him a star….

Well, Brady got a fourth ring. I doubt
if he even cares that much about missing
some regular season games. He got his Ring,
and he’ll still be around for the Pats usual
playoff run. The money wont matter to him at this point.w

vThe reputation will.
He could potentially become a Barry Bonds.
