    I’ve been thinking a lot about paranoid humans these days. I meet a lot of paranoid people in WV. I also meet a lot of people that believe in all kinds of conspiracies. And you cant throw a cat into the internet without hitting a conspiracy site.

    So i think a lot about whether this is ‘new’
    and i think a lot about what causes ‘it’.

    Without looking at the folks that believe in all these conspiracies,
    I think perhaps the cause is that we live on a planet of lies.
    I mean there are so many political lies out there, that perhaps people
    have just been affected by it. They dont trust ‘anything’ from an official source anymore.

    I mean what would you predict sentient-beings would be like
    on a Planet-of-Lies ?

    Those who watch CNN and those who read the New York Times and believe they are informed.

    I think conspiracy theories are probably about the same age as mass communications.

    I imagine there have always been conspiracy theories. Which is another way of saying “projected explanations for things I don’t know about for sure.” I imagine that mass communications have enabled people to expand and more widely circulate those theories.

    And, yeah, I think the fact that we are plainly marinated in lies from government and businesses and authority structures of all kinds provides fertilizer for their growth. When one is plainly being lied to, one speculates as to what the truth actually is.

    Well, we agree, that the MSM is full of shit. But media systems all over the globe are drenching humans in lies, omissions, propaganda, hidden-ideological-assumptions, etc.

    Its not just CNN and the NYT. Fox news, MSNBC, and the rest of them. Its Trumps media-system and its Hillary’s media-system. We are living in a time of lies.

    Look at ANY historical event. Take Vietnam. Look at all the layers of lies surrounding it. Etc, and so forth.

    I just think people KNOW they are being lied to and after a while, they are willing to believe in conspiracies of all kinds.
