off the net from Ram Fan Teacher

While listening to ESPN Chicago on the way home from work, I heard John Clayton say that he spoke with someone from the Rams and they said Goff is ready but they are sticking with Keenum because the team (or Case) is doing well.

He also said he was in Arizona for the game and Palmer was “loopie” after that hit and was really out of it

Mmm. I doubt it. Sounds like PR spin. Case is doing okay. Not “well.” And if Goff is ready, and Goff is more talented, they wouldn’t stick with Case. They wouldn’t. If Goff is ready, he would be an improvement. So. BS.

hmmm… if that’s true, i’m actually ok with it.

if the team is winning and keenum is playing well, might as well let goff just sit back and absorb as much as he can. let him get as ready as he possibly can before putting him in. as long as it’s not affecting results.

I watched the replay several times. Palmer’s head hits the ground really hard. That’s what got him, I think. And yeah, he was toast after that.

it does sound unlikely but there were times in the preseason he looked pretty good. at times.

so i figure he’s gotta be close at the very least.

There was good recent article on this that didn’t get much in the way of responses.

It was by Michael Silver, who is a Fisher confidante. Here’s Silver on Goff:

While Fisher and his assistants would like to see Goff reduce the amount of interceptions he throws against the scout team, they’re convinced that if thrown into the fray immediately, he has the physical skill, instincts and intelligence to thrive. That said, they recognize that he is only 21, and that many successful quarterbacks — including Palmer, now 36 — benefitted by observing and learning in the early part of their careers.

as long as results aren’t being affected it goes back to what a certain coach’s philosophy is.

fisher believes goff will benefit long term by sitting and observing.

and i think there’s positives and negatives to each approach. there probably isn’t a right way to do it. just different ways of doing it.

I think that before the season is over, we will see all the Rams’ QBs start, mostly because I think they will get injured.
