It was supposed to be Bennett. Assuming Bennett is actually in rehab and that he does well with it and is back next year and they also draft a guy…they might be good behind Stafford.

    Donald did all he could.

2 young teams playing (youngest & 2nd youngest in the league). Lots of crazy turnover moments cause of that.

Stick a fork in this season, the Rams are done.

I feel it is time to look into the draft and free agency.

It seemed to me our Oline was dominated.  Not good.

Right now, if the season ended today, we would be picking 6th in the draft.

I think the Rams win that game comfortably if Stafford plays. Rypien not only played himself off the Rams’ roster, but possibly out of the NFL altogether with that performance. Heck, I think the Rams would have won that game behind Wolford.

    They missed Jones as well.

I agree…. a capable QB with game mgmt ability wins that game for the Rams.

I actually found myself feeling sentimental about John Wolford yesterday.

They tried to sign Wolford off the Tampa practice squad and he turned the Rams down to stay in Tampa.

Horrible game. Mcvay has hit rock bottom with his play calling. He continues to pre align with a back  to take care of the safety telling the defense exactly what he is going to call. It’s never worked once since he began doing it.

    Wait…what?

    Can you elaborate on that?

Just watched the highlights today.   Obviously, this team is a helpless with a Quarterback with ‘that’ amount of talent and that amount of experience.

Thing is, we knew Stafford was an aging, patched-together-QB.   I have not liked McVay’s solution to the backup QB issue for the last few years.   I dont get it.

I wanted a decent vet backup.   …basically, i ‘always’ want a decent vet back up QB though.   I wanted a decent back up QB back when Trent Green went down.  Like, say, Hostetler.  But did Vermeil listen?  No.

I guess we’ll see how much fight this team has in it, as the season goes along.   Wont be a lot of wins, though.   But it would be nice to outhit some teams and maybe get a win over, say, the 49ers.

Based on nothing, I have this kind of “gut feeling” that McVay/the Rams did not really put any energy into Rypien.

Bennett was supposed to be #2, and he was, until he wasn’t. At which point #3 started holding the clipboard, and by then the season had started, so everybody got busy with the game at hand, and the Training and Teaching part of the season was largely over.

I just don’t think anybody worked with Rypien to make sure he understood the system etc., or gave him any reps. It was interesting to me that Robinson and Trammel both got their only reception of the year against GB. Stafford never threw to these guys. But they went into the game with Rypien which suggests to me that McVay was at least trying to place some guys around Rypien whom he was familiar with on a first-name basis.

Now, if I’m right that McVay put zero effort into grooming Rypien, it’s hardly a season-breaker cuz they never figured to be a serious contender, and Rypien was never in the plans anyway. If this happened during a “real” season, I think I’d be kinda pissed. This isn’t a good look for McVay, no matter how you evaluate it, but…you know…this seems like a “lapse” to me. An understandable lapse, but it’s a lapse.

Well, Im just an idiot-fan, and I know i know nothing, but this ‘could’ have been a wildcard-year.  The NFC middle-tier teams are pretty mediocre as per usual.

So, i just dont understand how you dont sign Wentz at the beginning of the year.  Assuming he was available. (was he?)

I mean, Stafford is elite, but we know he’s breaking down.  He does not have a Brady body.

If Wentz had been the backup from day one, they win that Packer game and are in the wildcard hunt.

Yeah, that pencils out, as far as I can tell.

I mean…Rypien looked worse than TJ Rubley. That was some awful quarterbacking, and I think the man’s career is over.

A lot of people out there talk about how bad Rypien was and there’s no disputing that.

But honestly we’ve seen worse. Which is not being said as a defense of Rypien.

In 2009 Keith Null had 1 game w/ 5 INTs & another w/ 3. In the 5 INT game he earned a qb rating of 38.7 (50.0 in the 3 INT game). Against GB, Rypien earned a qb rating of 49.5.

Chris Chandler threw 6 INTs in 1 game (2004).

Foles’s worst games in 2015 were particularly bad (in 1 game he completed 11 of 30 w/ qb rating of 23.7)

Foles and Null were both playing with Steven Jackson. Chandler had both Faulk and Jackson.

And now our local Seahawks fan thinks they make relish out of camel hair. 😯
