    I don’t complain about wins.

I do, however, complain about lackluster efforts and not capitalizing against a weak opponent.

You’re a top team, guys. The other side brings its A game.

I think I saw a better team lose last week than the one I saw win this week.

This was an embarrassing performance. The Giants are not a good football team. We should have blown them out. I say this was a major let down.

That was a poor effort. I mostly blame the coaches. At least they won.

Seemed like a half assed effort after the first drive anyway. In the end they made enough plays to win. Cards lose which helps. I’ll take it

Only saw the hi-lites so far. I’m taken-aback by the comments about lack of effort.

I’ll watch the replay, but I’ll be disappointed if there’s lack of effort. I was thinking the Giants just had a great game-plan, and figured out the new McVay offense.

That cornerback Williams has made two outstanding, clutch, athletic INTs.
I dont think you could find a better INT than that there one today.
I dont even really know who the hell that guy is, or where he came from.
He was not on my radar.

There’s a thin line between love and hate.

There’s a thinner line between good and bad NFL teams. I’m beginning to think the Giants may win the East, no shit.

I don’t think it was a lack of effort. The Giants defense really limited the run, and the kept Goff throwing short. I’m gonna guess – 90% of his passes were under 10 yards. At one point in the 3rd, I did the math and Goff was averaging 5.8 yds per completion. That was before the Kupp TDd, but overall, the Giants stymied the run, and kept Goff’s throws short. And I’m no expert, but when I was watching Goff, it appeared he was going through his progressions.

Well, we remember how the Lions figured out a good plan to attack the Rams Offense, way back when. The Giants had three solid weeks of film on what McVay has been doing. So, one wonders if maybe they just stopped a lot of the Rams tendencies. Which would mean, some low-scoring games to come — unless McV adjusts.

    But who knows.

i bet it’s some of that. i thought goff did a good job. the defense seemed to be taking a lot of stuff away and he would have to go through his progressions. and he was still producing. hopefully mcvay self scouts and makes the offense less predictable.

some of it is probably just a very desperate giants team that was backed into a corner.

i’m most disturbed by the rams horrendous inability to tackle. they were getting gashed. this defense is definitely flawed.

    I watched it.

Cant say i was impressed with the Giants QB. I think I’d rather have the Jets QB.

I dunno, but i just think this is what the Rams Offense looks like when you take away the run. The Giants took away the run. And when that happens, all those short passes by the rams dont amount to much.

All four games have been close, and hard-fought. (I actually think the Eagles may be the best team they’ve played) I love the fact they have won three out of four close games. The New-England-Way. Ya know. They dont beat themselves. They play smart.

They seem more physical this year. And thats also a New England thing.
That is not how they seemed to me, during the Gurley years.

    Goff looks fine.

I like the way Henderson is holding the ball this year. Last year, i held my breath everytime he ran the ball.

They look like a playoff team to me. But then so do about ten other teams in the NFC. Lotta parity in the NFC.

right now i’m thinking it’s one of two things.

either mcvay has no plan for when the rams run game is stalled.

or mcvay knows the oline can’t hold up if they go too pass heavy.

the other possibility of course is that goff needs the run game to thrive. i don’t think that’s the case though. goff looked good today.

I think Sunday was more about the Giants than the Rams. I think the Giants had a great gameplan and their Defense must have some good players to execute it so well. Their offense didnt make mistakes and give the game away.

I have to say, i like the Rams defense, given the new rules that make it so easy for offenses. There’s never gonna be anymore 70’s-Rams/Steelers/Cowboys/Vikings Defenses. So, while the Rams defense will get torched from time to time, It feels like the new defense is better than Wade’s defense. Looks to me, like McVay made the right decision. And i was a total-skeptic.

This defense just looks trickier to me. More dangerous. I assume they havent really hit their stride yet.

Good to see old-man-Brockers getting some heat on the QB.

Jones was very very lucky to get that strip-sack-fumble back. Bounced right back to him. That would have changed the game.

from Rodrigue below: “…So why waste it? Sunday’s 17-9 win against the New York Giants — the on-their-way-to-0-16 New York Football Giants — was so full of missed chances and offensive woes that by the time it ended, it somehow felt worse than last week’s loss to Buffalo because you guys are just so … much … better than that!…”
    ============

See I disagree with that. They are NOT ‘so much better than that’. They could easily have lost to Dallas. And the Eagles turned the ball over or that would have come down to the wire. Buffalo had them down 28-3.

This is not some elite-juggernaut of a team. And the Giants are an NFL team.
The Giants will have plenty of close-losses this year, and a few wins.

To me, that game was exactly who the Rams are. It wasnt some mystery-anomaly-underachievement.

I’m quite pleased with a the gritty win. They played smart, I thought. Tough, physical, and smart.

So, i saw a different game than some, i guess.

While watching yesterday’s display of offensive ineptitude, I wondered what happened to the Rams’ downfield passing game? The one medium to deep ball they connected on yesterday (Kupp TD) was a blown coverage.

Well…the Rams aren’t quite as good as they looked in the loss to Buffalo.

But they aren’t quite as bad as they looked in the win over the Giants.

Well, i think i remember two fairly deep balls near the sideline that were simply well covered. Giants good D.

It’s always good to hear from Giants fans.

I grudgingly admire Giants fans since unlike them I could not bear to live in North Korea.

That Giants D-Line could be a good one. Leonard Williams was a top 10 pick a couple years ago, Dexter Lawrence is another first rounder, and their NT was also a 2nd round pick, which is high for a Nose Tackle.

I believe that I recently saw Lawrence has a higher rating from PFF this year than Donald.

I didn’t watch any of the game, but that could be a D-line that gives teams trouble.

Looking for info about the Nose Tackle, I found a good story about Tomlinson with a little aside about Ashawn at ‘Bama.

There was one play that made me wince and kinda set the tone.
I cant remember which Rams RB got himself pile-driven to the ground, and i cant remember which Giant DLineman did the pile-driving, but it reminded me of Warren Sapp slamming Marshall Faulk. It was brutal.

Well he did say that he thought he was a little too conservative. But I dunno.
If he had thrown more downfield he would have exposed Goff to more danger, more risk of turnovers, sacks. Would it have been worth the risk? Maybe. But maybe it made sense to assume the Giants would self-destruct in some way as losing teams tend to do, and just play a nice safe game, as long as they had the lead.

you’re right. but i’d also like to hear what he says after watching film. what was the defense doing to the rams offense? was the deep ball just not there with goff checking down? did goff have to audible out of plays based on what he was seeing? did he miss receivers downfield?

at first i agreed with you. i liked the methodical approach the rams were taking although i admittedly got nervous there toward the end.

i thought the comment posted in another thread about the rams having to scale back their running attack due to the absence of noteboom was interesting. maybe the giants noticed this in the bills game last week and the rams got more predictable in the run game? i have no idea. but it could partially explain why the rushing game wasn’t as effective as it was the first 3 weeks.

Happy for the win. But since I didn’t get to see the game, I don’t know what happened, at all.

Thought they would crush the Giants, and continue running well. Apparently, that didn’t happen.

Looking forward to the next two games, which I’ll be able to watch, “live.” Washington and SF. Should be some goodin’ football.

    . . .

Still not sure if this season lasts. Hope so, of course. But who knows at this point?

Hope all is well with youze guys.
