I think this kid is a perfect fit for the Rams situation. He sits behind Sam till Sam gets hurt. I’d take him at 10 – OL/BPA rest of the way. Weird situation with this kid – he likely rides the pine at OSU yet he has the physical make-up to be a stud. He might as well make bank for his family and sit on the Ram’s bench (wherever that may be). Raw as hell but an impressive 3 game run. I would jump on him – seems like a Fisher type QB. I bet he has really strong pinkies too.

Not so sure. Too little info about him. They say he may not even be the starter at OSU next year if he stays. The negative on him: he might be a system qb and it’s hard enough to tell that after a lot of games let alone 3. And they say he has maturity issues, and no one knows yet if he’s a natural worker. So far he hasn’t earned anything, he got there because of injuries.

I agree with all that – that is the issue – he is an unknown and clearly not ready – but the ceiling is very high. Like I said, weird situation. He won’t start anywhere next year unless he transfers or is again forced to because of injuries. I still say his situation and the Rams situation makes it a good match.

    1) this guy has less 100 pass attempts in College.

    2) a QB needs good study habits: “”””Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain’t come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS ”

—Cardale Jones, Twitter: October 5, 2012

    3) There has been no NFL QB worth a damn in the NFL from Ohio State….. see Joe Germaine and Art Schlichter.

Any QB will look good with Zeke Elliot rushing for 249 yards and Oregon Choking in the redzone, Ohio State didn’t win because of Cardale’s 58 passer rating.

Again, I agree – it’s a risk – but Rams gotta do something at QB and it doesn’t look like Mariota or Winston are an option…are they less of a risk even if they were? Winston may be a head case. Mariotta may be good with Chip Kelly but nowhere else. Whatcha gonna do? Sam’s knees are in worse shape than Kurt’s pinkies. Maybe Big Ben or one of the Manning brothers wants to play in St. Louis…er, LA or somethin

You will think I am jumping to conclusions, but Cardale would easily be a top 3 QB in this class. He is better than Hundley, Petty, etc.

    I agree with lyser.

Not really–but I haven’t heard from him in awhile and am being polite. Not that he gives a shit.

Here’s the thing: I did not see the game. Never saw the kid. Just saw the highlights(mostly of the running back and offensive line of OSU and that tight end). So I have too little info or knowledge of him. However, I would not pick him 10th because the Rams have to address the offensive line at that spot.

I would not take any of these quarterbacks at 10 and that includes the top two guys.

In the second round I’d be a little more open but not necessarily sold and in the third round I’d probably think about it.

Joemad makes three great points against him.

But the Rams don’t have a lot of choice really. They have to roll the dice on someone in some early round.

Hundley, Petty, the kid from East Carolina, Jones–someone. There is no guaranty with any of them.

I like the idea of giving Petty a shot but I saw him all of one game–his bowl game.

I tell you this–I’d rather they pick Jones(3rd round) than give up a single extra pick to move up for Winston or Mariota.

They are going to roll the dice on a young QB this year–and it probably won’t work out. But what else can they do?

    Yeah they do.

They can not reach for a qb.

That way, they can end up 7-9 with a more talented team while waiting to find a qb, ASSUMING Bradford does not work out.

Or they can end up 7-9 with a LESS talented team having reached for a qb, ASSUMING Bradford does not work out.

The chances of REACHING for a qb out of need? The odds against that are just so great it’s not worth contemplating.

So yeah they have a choice.

Well, they COULD wait for the next great QB class and hope they are in the right position to select from that pool. But in the meantime they could try to find the guy. I’d rather they be proactive and start to bring some young guys in. It could fail–of course. But maybe it doesn’t.

But as I said–I wouldn’t roll the dice with the 10th pick so the stakes would be lower as they drop in rounds.

    Hi PA.

Yeah – 10 is a pretty long reach – but what if he ain’t there in round 2 or 3? You go get your guy if you have done due diligence and he is indeed your guy. Maybe he is dumb – kinda sounds it, but maybe he is just immature. I see the Rams as (finally) pretty solid. They need a QB and OL really…and they have FA and the rest of the draft to get OL. I am sick of QB holding this team back – they are build to play good D and run the ball – they just need a triggerman – if they wait the current talent base will be eroded. I would rather they roll the dice at 10 than trade picks or mortgage the future to move up. Sick of losing.

Sitting their hands is more of a guarantee of losing IMO. Who is out there that is less of a risk? Cutler? Some journeyman? More Hill or Davis? No thanks.

But counting on a raw college player that was 3rd sting until a few games ago is a better plan? I’m with zn on this one.

You have less of a chance of getting a qb by reaching.

At least if you don’t reach in the draft, you get to use that pick on something else, something good.

Meanwhile, honestly, you have a better statistical chance of winning games with a journeyman like Hill than you have with a qb you get by reaching in the draft.

As insurance for Sam’s balky knees? – yeah I think it’s a good risk/plan. Hard to say if he would work out and there are no sure things at 10 overall, but no greater need. Just read where the kid himself said he wasn’t ready tho – I guess he would know. The talent they have stocked is gonna go to waste without a workable number 2 QB plan, that I am pretty sure of.

No thanks. Not until the 4th round, then I’d consider him. Really good teams make QBs look much better, and Ohio State was mashing teams by the end of the season. Says something to me that they could win no matter who was at QB.

I’m about 90 percent sure they are gonna fix
the OLine. It just seems so “do-able” — I mean,
they have cap-space to sign a coupla solid free agents,
and they can draft a coupla young stud Hog-mollies.

So, it all comes down to QB.
    And Sam’s knees.
