wvParticipantAfter four games what can
we say about Brian Quick?I am happy about his obvious improvement,
but I’m a little surprised some folks
talk about him in such glowing terms.
I still think he is a tad soft on contested
balls. I havent seen any real ‘britt-like’ fierceness
from him on the field to finish plays.I’m still waiting for Quick to show some
physical tenaciousness.w

rflParticipantBrian Quick is not the problem. He is part of the solution.
He is one of the very few satisfying developments to come from this, another lost season.

SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantSays a bit about patience, huh WV?!
It’s become so easy for many to see the players as robots that perform based on their draft slot.
Players are just humans that can throw and catch stuff…or run fast…or tackle hard!
These guys have doubts, fears and foibles….and it takes time – sometimes – for them to become
the best of themselves.Pead yer up next! 😉

vi think he shows that tenaciousness at times. i think that tenaciousness will come through more and more as the season goes on and he gains more confidence.
there was one play in particular yesterday in the first half i think where he attacked the ball aggressively. wanna see more of that. but the difference from the last two years is startling. i didn’t expect it.
he’s already surpassed career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

HerzogParticipantWe’re speaking about him in glowing terms b/c he’s getting the numbers. Barring injury, he’s headed for over 1000 yards recieving.
I do agree with you…he can be a lot better. Which means I think he could be something really special if he keeps getting tougher and more confident in the system.

rflParticipantOne point about Quick.
Looking back, it seems completely clear that his problem in the past was lack of confidence, of the nerve that comes from knowing your capability. Now, some competitors are driven past that hesitancy from the beginning. But Quick clearly was crippled by self-doubt.
Now, he is showing his talent because he is discovering his confidence. He is beginning to assert himself.
As he asserts himself, he is having success and making plays. And there is no reason to assume that this growth process is over. There is room for him to continue a cycle of making plays, gaining MORE confidence, and making even better plays. I don’t assume that his ceiling has yet appeared.
And by the way, he has ALREADY made great plays! That 45 yard catch on the final drive was awesome, clutch, and physically assertive. I’m not altogether sure what more fans might want from him.

Post of the year there.

Eternal RamnationParticipantHow about the TD where he came back and helped out Davis on that crazy scramble? Someone did a poll last year on Quick’s development and I remember saying he would flicker and flash until game 6 and then stay on for good.
