Guys, the Rams Addiction lads raised an interesting question. What players do we hope/expect to emerge as special this year–O and D?

    How about defense?

    My pick is ‘Tree.

In their Rams Addiction podcasts. I have my phone subscribed to them.

They are doing a series of Know your Enemy sessions. I listened to the AZ one today, and they first discussed the breakout issue. Haven’t listened to the Whiner show and the SEA one isn’t available yet.

I think Robert Quinn will finally
break out of his slump and have
    a big year.

If I can pick only one, I say, either McDonald or Brockers or both.

Brockers. 3rd year at the DT position and he has the size and athletic ability.

McDonald will have a few moments, but he is a rookie.

I think under Williams, Jenks’ considerable talent will finally be utilized and he’ll have a big year. I also agree with Jack and think Tru-Jo could have a big year as well.

Pick one: Brockers, Ogletree, McDonald or JJ. Any or all could do it.

You know I was thinking about this and it could be more than one, meaning easily.

Could be a corner, a safety, Ogletree, Brockers, Donald, or all 5.

What if one of those FAILS? Then IMO the defense is no worse than it was the 2nd half of 2013, and that wasn’t bad.

Brockers and Ogletree are my Vets who should break out.

Aaron Donald and Lamarcus Joyner are the rookies that I truly expect to breakout as rookies. I think Aaron Donald will vie for rookie DPOY and I think Lamarcus will be such a veteran presence as a rookie that he’ll become a regular player if not our starting nickel by mid-season if not by game 1.

I think Gregg Williams will have the Safeties playing much better and more accountably such that the corners will be able to do their jobs aggressively. Even if all the DBs do is create a slight doubt in the QBs mind, they’ve done their job. That doubt creates hesitation or flight path alteration and that leads to incompletions and interceptions.

Plus, with Williams being WILLING to blitz whenever, we’ll see linemen biting on blitzes that don’t happen and our already dominant DL getting some easy shots.

It’ll be open season on opposing QBs…

Sports is the crucible of human virtue. The distillate remains are human vice.
