” Le Tube ” is a 1,763 km long tunnel under Croix-Rousse Hill.
It was first thought as an emergency tunnel only to the parallel road tunnel.
But it was also eventually decided to make it an entertaining tunnel … with permanent spectacular shows on …
Which gives it a totally different and perennial utility …
since a lot of people now use it every day to go from the Rhône river to the Saône river, and vice versa.
A Great and Positive Success Story … and the first tunnel ever made with this exciting purpose.
