Filed to ESPN: Andrew Luck has informed the Colts he is retiring from the NFL, per source. There will be a press conference Sunday to make it official, but Luck is mentally worn down, and now checking out.

It is impossible to imagine how anyone who claims to be a Colts fan could have booed Andrew Luck tonight. I’m here, I heard it, I saw it and I still can’t believe it. Shame, shame, shame!

The booing of Andrew Luck is so misguided, at best an emotional reaction made in the absence of any information or thought. Luck played with courage on the field and was a such a strong player/leader. This decision took guts to make. It was obviously hard for him.

This is a very rough game. Most people who have not played at this level will never understand what we put our bodies through season after season. We don’t need the sympathy because this is what we signed up for but to “boo” a man that battled for that city is disgraceful.

The fact that Luck is walking away from over 64 million dollars is telling. No one has ever left that much money on the table

Despite the fact that they could have recouped $24.8 million from their former QB, the Colts already have reached a financial settlement with Andrew Luck in which they will not take back any of the money they are owed, league sources tell ESPN.

I watched the end of Calvin Johnson’s career. I watched him walk into a locker room at 5 every morning, physically, emotionally & mentally anguished over the pain of his injuries. I watched his smile fade to “I don’t want this anymore” I think of CJ when I watched Luck last night

Another layer of the Luck retirement-@Colts HC Frank Reich was part of the Eagles in 2017 when they lost Wentz and he had to try and win with back-up QB in Foles—he was instrumental in that SB run. He’s been down this road and is well equipped to handle it as a coach/play-caller

Didn’t he miss a full season? Was that the shoulder?

I was surprised he was in the league this long. Seems like just a couple years ago he was the hot, young prospect out of Stanford.

Goff’s heading into season 4 already. Time flies, etc.

I wonder if Luck might be one of those guys who tries a comeback after a year.

this goes back to the argument of running qb vs pocket qb.

and this is not to bag on luck. and not to say that he was strictly a running qb. but there is the argument that running qbs are prone to injury.

makes me wonder if wentz might face similar struggles.

also makes me marvel how a guy like russell wilson has not missed a game his entire career.
