This comes out of a conversation Invade and I were having where we were trying to find ways to describe what the Rams do on offense.

InvaderRam wrote: what are his strengths as an offensive coach? You know, I have only a basic sense of that. I listen to and read good analysis of what Rams do on offense a lot, but I’m not fluent in repeating it. But basically, it’s designing an offensive system where the defense has trouble telling plays apart before the snap and the routes are designed to be mutually supporting in ways that always gets a guy open.

still want to see how whittington does this season, but i wonder if mcvay’s offense is able to maximize the receivers’ abilities. i’m sure other coaches try to do these same things, but maybe that’s mcvay’s strength as opposed to say a guy who can develop qbs. so maybe it’s better for the rams to concentrate on keeping stafford and keeping the oline solid than devoting a lot of money to receivers? i don’t know. just wondering out loud.

kupp. then seemingly nacua. and now possibly whittington?

i guess my question is. on the offensive side is it better to spend resources on qb and oline and maybe spend less on rbs and wrs?
