I posted this on the other board but would like to share it here because it simply meant a lot for my wife.

I know for many last Friday night was about the players opening their high school football season. Of course. However, this story is really neat. My wife advocates for children with special needs. She represents a severely autistic 15 year old boy who has very very limited social skills but is a sweat heart of a kid. As part of the child’s IEP my wife was able to obtain a commitment from the local school district to provide music lessons as part of his IEP. He does have some musical talent and so learned to play the xylophone. Well comes this Friday night and the opening of the local high school football season. And here he comes marching in the band with thousands standing and cheering. His mom in tears. My wife in tears. And I’m in tears. A very special night.

    What High School was it?

I have always liked high school marching bands.
Despite all the hierarchical and military-industrial implications,
    I like’em 🙂
I live next to Morgantown High School and the band
marches down my street every other week or so.
    I enjoy it.

In deference to my wife’s concern over privacy I will honor her request not to name the particular school. However, it is in south Orange County (Calif.) His IEP is in fact private and since it would not be difficult at all to know whom I’m referencing she’s right.
