It’s sometimes difficult to appreciate greatness when we see it week in week out.

I boxed (badly) and loved to watch Ali, but never truly appreciated him like I do now.

His hand speed and the power he could produce from a relatively small frame was just insane.

Similarly, I saw Johan Cruyff and Pele play at soccer and even though I knew they were amazing, I had no clue how amazing until I put it all in context decades later and watched them do things few others have managed.

And I remember watching Sebastian Coe tear up the 800m record books and produce a time that wouldn’t be beaten for over a quarter of a century. But at that time, his rivalry with Steve Ovett meant records were falling almost weekly between 800m and the mile and it was routine.

In Donald we have one of the greatest defensive players to ever play the game imho and whereas he gets plenty of plaudits, I’m not quite sure he gets enough.

12.5 sacks in a season for an interior DLinemen is amazing. 12.5 after just 10 games is flat out ridiculous for a man who has to get past 2 people on almost three quarters of his plays.

This D is under performing, but without 99 it would flat out suck.

The word ‘great’ gets overused, but Donald deserves it, and more.

As of today, in spite of being double teamed more than anyone else in the game, AD–from defensive tackle–leads the league in sacks, qb hits, and tackles for a loss.

He is also tied for most fumbles recovered by a defender with 2.

    Pay the man.
