You can have more than one entry.

This is a thing sweeping twitter but fits here too.

    My first line:

    “Find hungry samurai.”
    The 7 Samurai

Set-up: a village of defenseless farmers knows they will be attacked by bandits after harvest. They ask the old man of the village for advice on what to do. He says that in his lifetime he saw that villages that were protected by samurai always prospered. A desperate villager asks,we are poor, how can we find samurai we can pay with only rice? The old man’s answer is my line above.

Limiting it to five words makes it hard.

    “Kkkken’s coming to kkkill me.”
    “Life, uh, finds a way.”
    “Foreground my ass!”

Well I was thinking more of a quote from the movie. A short quote that summarizes a movie for you.

Since you did Jaws, I will offer an example.

    “Not with three he can’t!”

Oh. I thought I was the only one who was doing it right because the command is to “summarize” the movie. And I didn’t recognize the line from 7 Samurai, and thought it was a summary since I saw it a hundred years ago, with subtitles obviously, and don’t remember the story.

    “As you wish.”

    “Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”

“I know it was you, Fredo.” (So…okay…six)

    “Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?”

Apologies if this was already answered:

FYI for everyone, the line I posted (“Foreground my ass!”) is also from the movie, Jaws.

It’s said by Brody when they are on the Orca and they see the shark for the first time. Hooper is taken aback by the sharks size and wants to get photos of it. He keeps pleading with Brody to go to the end of the pulpit (the platform that sticks precariously out from the front of the boat) and Brody keeps asking why. Finally Hooper says he needs Brody in the foreground of the photo so people can see the scale of the shark. That’s when Brody shouts ‘Foreground my ass!’

You’re right, I was not clear, so I changed the thread title. Even though it cost me hundreds of dollars in editing fees to do that. Even so, I want you to know I don’t put the full and entire blame on you for that. It’s in my nature to be generous that way. So don’t feel bad.

    Another.

    “He likes your lemonade.”
    Lawrence of Arabia.

Also from the same scene: “that’s alright, we’re not particular”

Have watched LOA several times, and it never gets old for me. A lot of movies do after a few viewings, but it never does.

A host of great acting performances, but O’Toole’s is just off the charts great. He was possessed by Lawrence, as Lawrence was by that land.

    Wow.

Almost every one of my quotes is actually a misquote (except “Kahn!” hard to mess that one up).
“These go to 11” vs “This one goes to 11”, “Heineken, fuck that shit” vs “Heineken, fuck Heineken” (Blue Velvet) etc.
Just hammers home that the brain isn’t just a storage unit, it is also editor in chief.

    Well played, ZN, well played.
