If you factor in the 2020 free agents along with everything else, there are a lot of needs on defense.
Fowler and Brockers are both FAs next year. So are Littleton and Talib. They could sign one of them, possibly 2, but not all 4 (I just don’t think that’s likely). So is Peters but they have talked about extending him.
They haven’t extended Peters yet but they could. Even if they do, I think he proved he’s not a #1–apparently he works better when someone better suited to it does that.
Talib is old, along with this being the last year of his contract. There’s no one behind Peters and Talib (not counting the nickel CB ).
Weddle is old too, they could use someone behind him. Does he have 2 years in him?
Same with Matthews.
They have a lot of bodies at OLB but no obvious player yet. Fowler (as I said) is on a one year. Matthews is not the future. Not only do Ebukam, Fox, and Obo have a lot to prove still, they’re also all coming off of surgery.
They might have some players in Fowler, Kiser, Joseph-Day, Obo, and Franklin-Myers, but it’s not likely to be all 5 of them.
As it stands, the still young, still in their prime sure starters they can probably count on are Johnson, Littleton, Donald, and Brockers. But then as I said, 2 of those guys are FAs after this season.
This is a strong defensive draft and I think the Rams have big defensive needs. They do in 2019 and it becomes a bigger issue in 2020.
On offense? They could use some OL (and that’s even assuming NB and Allen can play) and probably a qb too. Mostly this looks like it probably should be a defensive draft, though.
