I was asked a great question yesterday on @TikiandTierney show.. what are the tangible reasons why I think Goff is a good QB. Besides the obvious stock answers of when and how he throws the football, IMO a lot of Goff’s genius comes from plays when he decides NOT to throw.

This one reminded me of something else about Goff. I’ve been thinking about this observation from Farr over the past season, along with another thought.

It’s about how Goff throws. Again and again and again…he throws off balance. There are several times each game where he fails to set and throw off his back foot. I really don’t understand his accuracy at times. He absolutely nails throws while falling backwards, or during a pivot. The kind of form that should lead to a throw going 12 feet over the receiver’s head. But he sticks those throws a LOT.

It’s his arm talent, it gives him a lot of leeway. It’s not arm STRENGTH per se like with Mahomes, it’s suppleness and elasticity, gives him a lot of control with just arm movement.

I got that from Orlovsky, who talks about it here: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/test-7/

He’s an odd one. I cant think of a QB to compare him with. I’m not gonna list his attributes and flaws cause we all know them by now, but…he’s an odd one.

The important thing is, he has now answered the big question: Is he clutch in pressure-packed playoff situations? Yes. He is.

Btw, wv-mom watched the game and her comment about Goff was: “Did you notice how SKINNY the Rams QB is? He’s too skinny.”

By “odd,” I assume you are referring to his uncanny accuracy combined with his canny inaccuracy. Or whatever.

He isn’t exactly erratic. That isn’t the right word. He is just odd in the way he can flick a ball into a ridiculously tight moving window time and time again, and then miss a target by 10 yards. That, I assume, will go away over time.

    Dude is 24.

The youngest starting QB in Super Bowl history. And the Rams are going to have him for a long, long time. How cool is this?

    it’s pretty fucking cool.

    he makes some ballsy throws.

but he doesn’t make too many mistakes. outside of that one bad stretch.

and when he does he seems to have a pretty short memory.

at this point he’s my second favorite qb of all time.
