“This is a very winning, strong issue for me,” Mr. Trump said in a phone call, according to a sworn deposition given by Mr. Jones and reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. “Tell everybody, you can’t win this one. This one lifts me.”

(NFL owners apparently can’t decipher this)

“Most of the money goes to the players” … Is there a new CBA I don’t know about?

Oh, I think owners decipher it plainly. That’s why they did what they did.

The problem for them is that owners are hurt by this issue either way. They lose this issue politically to the president, and they lose it with the players. The thing is…Trump won’t be in the White House forever, but they will ALWAYS have players to deal with. Owners are just going to have to try to duck, and wait this one out.

On a conference call, #LARams HC Sean McVay says WR Josh Reynolds (ankle) and CB Kevin Peterson (knee) are undergoing further evaluation for injuries sustained in last night’s game.

While McVay said he “wouldn’t go that far yet,” he noted it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility that some key #LARams starters may not see playing time for the duration of the preseason.

That’s especially because there’s kind of a unique situation with LA facing Oakland this week and also in Week 1 of the regular season. But McVay reiterated they’ll take it one day at a time, and see where things go.

Just wrapped up a conference call with Sean McVay. It sounds like we will see a little bit of Goff, Gurley and starters in the preseason. But it will be a VERY limited amount. (And probably won’t happen this week).

McVay on Mannion: “It was kind of a perfect storm of really a lot of things didn’t work out in his favor. He certainly had a part, but I think everybody that was involved from an offensive standpoint could have done a little bit better.”

Sean McVay said he wouldn’t consider holding his starters out for the entire preseason…yet. Didn’t write it off either. Spoke at length about Washington’s two ACL tears. Sounds as though it will be almost all backups against Raiders next Saturday. Then we’ll see in week 3.

The starters have to get some action. I’m not saying a whole game, but some snaps, just to get some rhythm going into the season. I remember Mike Martz doing it, and we struggled to build some rhythm, and I believe we missed the playoffs.

Jets may actually have a QB surplus. Times are changing.

The @NFL backup QB trade market at the end of August will be very, very interesting.

Really interested in seeing more of #Rams rookie tackle Joseph Noteboom. He’s showed all camp there’s something “there” there. And he looked poised and effective last night in pass and run blocking. All three of the Rams rookie linemen flashed last night as they have in camp.

I believe we are closing in on an era in which the majority of NFL teams are feeling good about their QB situation, and there’s not much separation between QB8 and QB25 in a given season

Success will be dictated by scheme, supporting cast, and a bit of luck.

With K Mack wanting more than 20 million per year (sources tell me he actually wants 22) a deal with the trading team must happen first–going to be costly on both ends, trade and contract.
