President Donald Trump insults LeBron James’ intelligence: ‘Don Lemon made LeBron look smart, which isn’t easy to do’
    By Scott Chiusano

The President is coming at the King, and it isn’t pretty.

Earlier this week, LeBron James opened a school in his hometown of Akron to give underprivileged students a chance at higher education. Friday night, President Donald Trump insulted the three-time NBA champion’s intelligence in a randomly-timed tweet.

“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!” the President tweeted from his official account.

Lemon’s CNN interview with James actually aired on Monday and, considering the newly-minted Laker said President Trump was using sports ‘to divide us,’ it’s a wonder it took the Commander-in-Chief this long to respond.

Not to mention the fact that the president purports to only have eyes for FOX news, reportedly berating his staff for tuning in to CNN aboard Air Force One, according to The New York Times.

Considering President Trump has already come under fire for racial insensitivity — saying of a white supremacy rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that there were ‘fine people on both sides’ and keeping up the Barack Obama birther charade for years — insulting the intelligence of two powerful black men will likely bring him under more scrutiny.

In the original CNN interview, James talked about racism in America and mentioned President Trump explicitly throughout the conversation with Lemon. Towards the end, when asked what he would say to the President if he were sitting in front of him, James responded:

“I wouldn’t sit across from him. I’d sit across from Barack, though.”

Last September, James responded to Trump uninviting Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry to the White House by calling the president a ‘bum.’ As of late Friday night, James had made no response to President Trump’s latest insult.

Presumably, President Trump’s exclamation of “I like Mike!” is not an endorsement of his Vice President, but rather a reference to Michael Jordan, the six-time NBA champion who famously said “Republicans buy shoes too.”
