    Saw a little movie on dvd called ‘Nightcrawler’. I’d never heard of it. There was an outstanding performance by Jake Gyllenhaal. Just outstanding. His character is part autistic, part sociopath, part I dunno.

    The movie is about local-tv-news, and ratings, and corporate profit over people, etc. Its all been done before (Network for example) — but what makes this movie special is Gyllenhaal’s performance. In the bonus feature he said he saw his character as a “coyote”. He noted that when he was young and in LA he would see lone coyotes staring at him. Desperate. Looking like they had just killed something or were about to. To survive.

    Good film. Gyllenhaal’s character really evolves from start to finish.
