    The Rams have placed quarterback Brandon Allen on injured reserve with a back injury and signed outside linebacker Kasim Edebali as a corresponding roster move.

    Los Angeles claimed Allen off waivers form the Jaguars after the quarterback was waived during Jacksonville’s roster reduction to 53 players at the end of the preseason. Originally a Jaguars sixth-round pick in 2016 out of Arkansas, Allen served as the Rams’ third quarterback this season, and was inactive for all 14 contests.

    Edebali originally signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College in 2014. The outside linebacker played three years for the club, recording a total of 8.0 sacks in the process. He signed with the Broncos in March as a free agent but was waived in November. The Lions claimed Edebali, who spent a few weeks with Detroit. But the club waived him on Dec. 13.

    The Rams’ roster currently stands at 53 players as the team begins its preparation for the Titans in Week 16

    Cody Davis Returns to Practice

    The Rams have received some good injury news, as safety Cody Davis has been cleared to return to practice on Thursday.

    Davis was placed on injured reserve in early November after suffering a quad injury during the Week 6 victory over the Jaguars. Upon Davis going on injured reserve on Nov. 3, head coach Sean McVay said, “Certainly Cody is a very important part of our team and it’s unfortunate, but he had that quad that just wasn’t getting any better. So, want to be smart, give him a full chance to recover and then we’ll look at bringing him back with the designated to return possibilities the way that that operates.”

    Davis had been playing well in the Rams’ new defensive scheme for 2017 under coordinator Wade Phillips. In his fifth year out of Texas Tech, Davis had recorded an interception, a pair of pass breakups, and 22 total tackles prior to going on injured reserve.

    While he has returned to practice, Davis is not eligible to return to the active roster until Week 17. That will mark eight weeks since he was placed on injured reserve — the requried amount of time a player designated to return must be on the list.
