    There’s lots of different ways people are seeing this.

    In my own view, which is just one among others,I would not be surprised by some up and down inconsistency but even that would be within an upward trajectory. So an upward graph line with some peaks and valleys. And the only reason I even say that is because it would be reasonable for a very young team with a new head coach and a young qb to stumble here and there (heck they already did against Seattle).

    So I think that could happen or I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.

    I do believe in this team and it’s future, even though this could be more of a transition year. I believe in them because it’s clear Whitworth and Kromer make a difference, Gurley has been reborn, Phillips is (IMO) a hall of fame level defensive coordinator, McVay is clearly a very grounded leader and head coach, and Goff just flat out has the arm talent combined with the competitiveness and toughness and mindset for it (he just needs experience). Adding the receivers helped too. That all just looks rock solid real to me.

    But it’s not 99. Warner was older and much more seasoned, even if he did not have NFL game experience. Vermeil was craftier, just from experience. As good as Gurley and the Rams receivers are now, they are not quite on the same level of Faulk and Bruce, who were both experienced future hall of famers.

    I got the feeling in 99 that that team was in bed with destiny.

    This team, I just feel like this is the first year of many good years to come.

    Maybe the Goff/McVay Rams never reach the heights of the GSOT Rams, but, I bet they have a longer run than they did. I don’t know HOW good they will get but they WILL be good and for a long time.

    Ditto.

    Thing is, i really dont watch other teams anymore. In 99 i knew more about the Bucs and Vikings etc. This year, i dunno how good Philly really is, or Minny, or Seattle or New Orleans. So it could be that the 2017 Rams just have an easier path. Or not. I dunno.

    ….I’m just not sold on Philly yet.

    yeah that 99 team was way more seasoned.

    even having said that i don’t think this team’s ceiling will ever reach the heights that 99 team reached. it’s not quite as dynamic. and i think the talent level falls short.

    that’s no knock on them. i think it’d be ridiculous to expect that level of excellence. but they’ll be good. and like you said they could have a longer run than that group.

    i do think the defense however could be better than this defenses from that era.

    The offense isn’t as talented, but it’s very good and growing.

    The defense may be better.

    Sometimes…like yesterday…I just wonder what Jeff Fisher must be thinking right now.

    i agree, 1999 is not 2017

    how about 1973? sans Goff = Hadle/Harris, Jaws, Haden, et al.

    Knox = McVay + 10 years in age.

    Harold Jackson = Woods divided by Sammy

    Jack Snow = Kupp

    Tommy Prothro = Fisher

    Injured Roman Gabriel = Injured Bradford both off to Philly

    Karl Sweetan = Mannion

    Merlin = Donald

    Tree = Isaiah

    Tru = Elemdorf

    Don Kloserman, where R you?

    beat Dallas and or Minny in reg season, then what happens in playoffs?

    hey, it beats Brooks, Fish, Spags and Vitt any of the week…

    sorry for the SMACK CHICK type post…..
